well put pim!! What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Pim Loses His Cool Over Kewell? PIM Verbeek has grown tired of the constant questions about Harry Kewell's groin that continues to under constant scrutiny among media and Socceroos fans alike.Have your say.

Unforntunately for Pim he comes from a country where they produce magic footballers every couple of years.
He doesn't quite understand how much Harry Kewell means to three generations of Australian Football fans.

Amen Pim....
Kewll is not the whole Australian team, I want to know what offensive tactics Pim is thinking about, back up plans etc etc etc
Kewell's is only a small peice of the World Cup jigsaw puzzle; then again we're only just starting to evolve as a footballing nation so it'll take time to get our sporting reporters to get broader scope on the game.

Pim, our sensationalist mainstream media won't ask questions about "tactics" etc... because they don't understand it. But Harry's looks make him good breakfast show fodder. Hope this clears it up for you.

Okay Pim heres a tactics question for you. If Kewell doesn't find his fitness and Kennedy and Rulavitsa both get injured what do you plan on doing as your 4-2-3-1 will be useless without a striker?
Harry is the face of Australian Football as he is an Anglo. Deal with it. Plus you have put so much emphasis on his inclusion in the squad naturally people are going top be waiting on baited breath for any information about him.

Pim asks the media to write about something with substance. So what does 442 do? They write another non-event story about Kewell. Ingenious.

there's always the Chippers as a striker option - he's apparently been playing as a striker for Basel and has been scoring for fun in the last couple of months.

rocknerd - if all three strikers were unavailable, there is only one sensible option - Brett Holman!

Chippers is probably the best option as our Defenders see to score more goals than any one else in the team. Holman is a choice but tends to be out of his depth as that last man in the National team. Hopefully he can start to Gell and show us that he is the quality player that plays in the Dutchyland league.

jesus if these hypotheticals revolve around us losing three players for the one position on the eve of the cup why not 4 or 5 and include a hypothetical macca or even Viduka into the equation???
Imagine if we lost 3 keepers!!!! Imagine if we lost Chippers and Carney Or Wilshire Culina and Emerton
Imagine if we lost Grella Valeri and Culina...actually thats ONE position(DM) we'd be ok in

My point is we only have the three where as mids and defenders make up 17 players of our team and are mostly interchangable outside of Brescrs, Holman, Cahill and culina. I don't think Macca should have been cut for this reason and I don't think Garcia is really gonig to do anything although if Vidosic can keep playing as he did against New Zealand he may be an option.

Rocknerd, I agree with Davide82. Other than the top echelon of teams, how many do you think could field a better striking option than Cahill if they were to lose 3 strikers? It's a pretty dumb hypothetical situation. If we lost 2 left backs we would be screwed, let alone 3.

Rocknerd I'm sure Pim would LOVE to answer your question, but the point of his statements above is most of the journos seem too dumb to able to ask such complicated questions - BTW SBS, FFT and other dedicated football journos are obvious exceptions.
I get the sense that now we're at the World Cup there will be ALOT of 'Bandwagoners' from the more commercial media outlets, including your more generic 'sports reporters,' who indeed, probably don't understand the offside rule, let alone could ask any more indepth queries about tactics, preparation etc...

Watch Channel nine's today show. They are reporting the weather from Jo'Burg. Lots of talk about how wonderful the Murder capital of the world is and how awesome the FIFA soccer world cup is. Really how many FIFA's are there that you need to define it as a Soccer world cup. pogues.

We still have up to 24 hours before the first game to replace any injured player but problem is we don't have any striker in our standby squad. So I said let's get Macca over to S.Africa just in case.

I can understand Pim's frustration but really Kewell is our best player (or at least top 3). He's been our best player for years and if we're going to do well in the World Cup he'll play a crucial role. Now he's barely played since Christmas and less than 10 days from our first game we don't know how much he'll be able to play (plus everytime Pim's asked he says "Harry will be fine", well we haven't seen that yet). Yes the media could focus on other things but really if the media talk about tactics then they've only got one thing to say "Pim will play 4-2-3-1", Pim's given nothing else to talk about. Maybe the media should start asking questions like "Does Vinnie really deserve to start when Valeri could do his job without killing someone?" or "If we're chasing the game will you move to 2 up front? Have you worked on that yet? And who would you play as a front 2?" Pim wouldn't answer those questions anyway!

Rocknerd the fact Kewell is an Anglo has very little to do with the fact he's our poster boy. Cahill is huge in Australia and the next to take the mantle of Poster boy and hes Samoan.

What's really dumb is going to a World Cup with 3 strikers, one of which hasn't played in 6 months with a chronic groin injury. Slice, dice whatever you like it, that the git of it. BTW Germany is taking 6.

Cahill has an English father and Samoan mother.
Pimbo wasn't entirely honest about the state of the team when he selected it. He's blindly sticking with his "trusted few" and giving everyone else fuck all chance to play for Australia, even though they are perfectly capable of doing the job.
In the meantime we wait for half a dozen crocks to be well enough to even fuckin run a lap of the oval.
Heaven help us FFS!
