I hope all this about Australia just being a physical team is just a smokescreen and once the cameras are gone they work on passing, position, movement and tactics. Our game is going to need some sophistication beyond mere fitness... e.g. how we couldn't break down the Italian bus in 2006.

Hmmm, it IS Pim Verbeek coaching, we certainly havent been the prettiest team to watch under him.

the USA match is partly about the bid. surely a win against them would add a bit of lustre to our bid, and take a bit of shine off theirs...just that little bit..?

Socceroos have done a good job arriving at Sa early is usually takes 10-14 days to adapt to altitude. So we might have a chance if the Germanys arrive late.

We play Germany at sea level so altitude training is no good against them, and by the time we play Ghana and Serbia they will have adapted already.
