NORTH Korea have been told by FIFA that Kim Myong-Won will only be able to play as a goalkeeper in the World Cup and not in his usual role as a striker.

I was not aware that the goalkeepers that are named on the bench couldn't be subbed on as an outfield player. I always thought that if your team became depleted enough you could put a goalkeeper on the field as an outfield player if you had to, just like you can put an outfield player into goals if you don't have the option of substituting one on when your first team goalkeeper has to leave the field.

Yeah I wonder if FIFA are just pulling this out of their backside or if it's actually written into the rules. If not in the rules specifically then I think it'd be a bit rude to not let them swap him for a keeper.

It's a stupid rule, should be able to make up the team however you want IMO.

Would love to see them get booted for political interference, too.
