Stupid headline guys, crash my arse, please actually use some intelligence with your headlines.

One howler from Paston 2 very bad referee calls for the free kicks but good free kicks none the less. We should have had 2 or 3 goals ourselves but sqaundered our chances.

A good hit out for us but by no means a thrashing like your headline implies.

Um, Teza mate, 3-1 is a thrashing in any language. Even Kiwi. You can sugar coat it if you insist on being delusional, but the headline is spot on.

I wouldn't call 3-1 a thrashing in any language, careful your all-white hate is showing. ( even though they play in black. What do they really want to call themselves? )

Um get real matey, did you see the game? 2 very poor decisions by the ref, the 2nd one was a disgraceful dive by the Slovinian player.

They were good value for the win but as I said we missed 3 very good chances that we should have converted.

yeh mate you missed them. If they were very good chances as you said they should have at least converted one. In the world cup you have to take your chances, so yes they definitely crashed, especially seeing as Slovenia seemed to have taken their chances well.

The Slovenes are not easy beats, they knocked out Hiddink's Russia. They also finished above the Czech Republic and Poland in their qualification group. If England take them lightly they might too find themselves on the wrong end of a 3-1 hiding.

Where is "thrash" or "thrashed" in the headline?

"Crash" is more than apt description of a 3-1 defeat.

If you're going to take offense at every descriptive word for "defeat", Teza, I suggest you don't watch the World Cup - or read any football media between now and August.

Tbh when I read the headline I didn't think that it meant they got thrashed but just that they lost. But for me, any team that loses a game due to missed chances is a crash.

You know exactly what the headline infered.

For what its worth, i think "crash" is an apt description.

After matching it with Australia, beating Serbia youvé crashed to Slovenia. You've lost some momentum and your vehicle is going to need a bit of body work.

If you had of beaten Slovenia you would have been criusing at 10 000m, but you crashed.

All whites have had a decent run of warm up matches; Australia, Serbia and Slovenia and despite two losses have played fairly well across all three matches. They may not get through the group but they shouldn't be embarrassed and may even cause an upset along the way.

The All-Whites are def whipping boys but i hope they step up & avoid too much embarrassment, the world stage is a pretty big leap from A-League, god willing thru some miracle they make the 2nd round & provide some entertainment

Slovenia to get through the group behind England

I was pretty disappointed with this result when I woke up this morning. I had high hopes for New Zealand to prove the result against Serbia wasn't a fluke.

3-1 isn't really a thrashing. On paper it is, but it probably doesn't do the game justice.

From memory, Japan were leading for the entire game against Australia in 2006, and it was only until the last ten minutes where Australia converted and won 3-1.

Genghis, the All Whites don't play in the A-League, they are a national team...

Score wasn't reflective of the match. Neither team looked very good, and if it wasn't for a poor ref and a goal keeper howler it would have been a draw.

NZ will be respectable at the World Cup and won't be the worst team there.

Crash arguably implies car-wreck, and a 3-1 loss ain't that bad.

If they cheat by diving like they did yesterday then they wont.
They are a very good team but I think they need to stop with the diving otherwise they will be punished.
