What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Herbert Upbeat Despite Defeat?
NEW Zealand coach Ricki Herbert remains bullish about his side's chances at the World Cup despite going down 3-1 to Slovenia in a warm-up match in Maribor.

Have your say.

Bit odd that they can beat Serbia, despite it the goal coming against the run of play - yet go down heavily to Slovenia, who are arguably weaker.

Heineken, they didn't really go down heavily. If it wasn't for a keeper howler and a dodgy ref it would have been a draw, which would have been more reflective of the game. They certainly weren't outclassed.

all i am hearing is "we should've taken this" and "we should've taken that" chance

excuses excuses

welcome to international football

you are still an extremely naive team to think you can play 3 at the back at the world cup and not concede a bucket of goals.

and herbert, what does Nelson playing "in the premiership" have to do with anything>> .... sycophantic ass kisser

NZ raises it's game against the so called sronger nations....but struggles against mid/lower tier teams....i'd say your ranking is quite indicative of where you are at at this stage. no consistency. probably another epic fail in a tournament beckons.

When the WC starts thats what matters pre-world cup warm up matches dont mean a whole lost. Im expecting NZ to go out in straight sets, that being said they could very well cause an up-set.

Cool_Cat is right about playing 3 at the back, it is 'naive' Australia has the exact opposite problem in terms of having to much defense and not enough attack.

NZ will get pumped against a defensive minded Italy, but againsts more aggressive nations 3-4-3 is actually not to bad.
