Brett Holman, Brett Emerton and David Carney have been ruled out of Australia's friendly against USA in Johannesburg on Saturday, but Harry Kewell will be on the substitutes bench.

While much of the focus has been on Kewell's fitness ahead of the World Cup, the striker will be on the bench for the final warm-up match, with coach Pim Verbeek to decide on matchday whether he will bring the 31-year-old on to the field.

Emerton has missed several training sessions with a calf injury and has been ruled out of Saturday's match.

Verbeek said he was confident Emerton, Holman, who is suffering soreness, and Carney, who has a shoulder injury, would be fit and available for the opening match against Germany next Sunday in Durban.

Damn. I was hoping to see Holman stick another nail in the Holman haters coffin.
