Too many youngsters at the Asian Cup could backfire on us. We should aim to win it like the Matildas did. The Asian Cup squad in Qatar 2011 should not be solely about giving the youngsters a go, we should pick the best 23 that is available for selection, whoever they may be. Majority of the older and more established players are expected to have difficultly getting leave for this tourney as its Mid season.

I can't wait to see the back of him. And I hope the new coach has the sense to dump all players over 26 (other than Tim Cahill as he offers something and Brad Jones as goalies peak later), and build for the 2014 World Cup with these players. We have the young players who can go further than we did in the Asian Cup last time, and will gain chemistry moving forward to make us a competitive team in time for 2014. These extra few months, that is post World Cup and pre Asian Cup will make a huge difference in the development of these players, who will otherwise be untried at the elite level.

Chippers still has a year on his contract.

After our appalling showing in the last Asian Cup it is extremely important we do well next year. The problem that our country seems to be having is that we haven't yet brought through the next big star, like Kewell at Liverpool, or even a Viduka. It needs to happen if we are at least to maintain the quality of our squad, which isn't awfully high at the moment anyway. At the moment it's looking like those hopes are down to Tommy Oar and our kid whose name I can't remember at Valencia, but if they flop then what? (I've heard the Valencia kid is massively impressive though, can't wait to see him in the socceroos) I also expect to see Bosnar in the asian cup.

Don't worry Pim their will be plenty of senior players eft to nuture and teach the newer and younger players. I don't see Kewell, Bresces, Cahill, Neil and schwarzer will still be available up until the next word cup.

Emop, Chippers and Grella are all maybes but still plenty of talent to help out around the house.

I think very few will actually retire directly after the World Cup. Moore will retire and Chipperfield might. I think the rest will make themselves available for the Asian Cup if their clubs don't make a huge issue of it being in January. You might get a few more retiring after the Asian Cup. The team will naturally evolve as long as the next coach keeps an open mind about the guys in their 20s e.g. Jedinak might become our most consistent defensive midfield option (he already had a great season this year).

I think the problem is a couple could have retired already, or been cast to retirement

Go another step and Pim will be asking senior players to come home and join the A-league before they retire... :lol:
