Nice blog Neil. You don't think Alonso can do the holding role of Senna. Different kind of player of course but still offers plenty from that position. Especially with so much talent to feed up front.

I can probably see Alonso fitting the role of Senna and as you say he is a different type of player. I always seem to forget about Alonso amongst all those other stars but definitely he could be the man for the job.

Hard to go past the Spanish. I've backed them financially in every major tournament up until Euro 2008. So the fact my money is elsewhere this tournament is a food omen for the Spaniards.

I wouldn't even say that.

As for Argentina pipping them in the final I don't think Argentina's defence holding out the Spanish attack. If it came about it could very well be a shoot out and I don't mean the penalty kind.

It would be a hell of a final, that's for sure. Maybe 6-5 scoreline, whoever won?

And if Brazil can fire up, and if these Adidas balls add a bit to the attack, rather than just breaking down play, we could be in for a real goal-fest.

Have your say.

What do you think about the FourFourTwo blog The Pain Of Spain Will Reign?
Fabregas, Villa, Torres, Xavi, Casillas, Iniesta, Alonso, Puyol, Pique, Ramos, Silva, Arbeloa. Reads like a pretty impressive fantasy football team doesn't it. But alas it just a possible Spanish star...

Have your say.
