New Zealand fall to Chile in a World Cup warm-up

Saturday, June 12th, 2010

Chile 2 - New Zealand 0 (International Friendly, June 9, 2010) Chile had the best chance of a goalless opening 45 against New Zealand, All Whites keeper Mark Paston made a smart save to deny Jean Beausejour’s point-blank shot in the first half (highlights here). Chile, one of the widely tipped dark horses for the World Cup, ran out winners in the second half courtesy of goals from Gonzalo Fierro and Esteban Paredes.
