So according to this article only Brazilian players have been banned? Maybe the rest of the teams should take up this tradition.

Speaking of traditions, why ban religion and not the vuvuzelas? It's all tradition isn't it?

Also, what's the harm of displaying your religion? Isn't this part of freedom of choice? Which of you were offended when seeing the Brazilians with their Jesus shirts? Just seems like an unusual decision by FIFA.

It's not even being humble. It's just being a massive douche and not being able to take credit for the massive talent you've got. I mean, if I had that kind of talent I wouldn't be givng some invisible dude that nobody can prove exists all the credit for my awesomeness.

I totally agree mate. Like seriously, there is humble and there is below humble haha. Some of these guys should realise the talent that they have for themselves..

Don't they ever wonder why noone else was as "blessed" as they were haha?

True afro.

Good to see Victor Obinna thanking God publically in the press conference about 20 times for letting him win the man of the match award... They mustv'e edited it live when he questioned why God made them lose the game though, can't remember seeing it.

I don't think that will make any difference to Brazilian players, I think you'll see someone do it anyway.

FIFA needs to remember that many of these players see their religious faith as more important than football.

I'm glad to see FIFA have attempted to curtail the religious propaganda. But I don't think it will change anything.

Nah good idea. It's bad enough seeing this shit with people crossing themselves running onto the field.

The better religion is removed from everyday life, the better the world will be. The world will never become a better place when kids are brought up to believe in invisible, omnipotent forces, and that people have a predestined life.

FIFA did something right. Wow.

Big deal.

Here in Japan they have crosses and crucifixes all over the place but nobody is Christian. They do it for fashion.

If they wanna wear religious shirts, let them.

FIFA Ban Brazil Players From Displaying Religious T-Shirts
Brazil players will not be allowed to display messages underneath their football kit...

Brazil have been told that their players are banned from displaying religious t-shirts during the World Cup, a spokesman for the team confirmed on Saturday.

Rodrigo Paiva who is responsible for communications at the Brazil Football Federation CBF confirmed FIFA have told them they are prohibited from displaying anything of a private, religious or political nature.

"They have asked us to obey the guidelines," Paiva told DPA press agency.

Current FIFA guidelines ban players from displaying messages of political or religious nature.

Brazil clash with North Korea at Ellis Park on Tuesday. Past World Cups have seen players from the Selecao display messages on t-shirts.

In 2002, the then-captain Cafu had one with the message 'I love Jesus'.

More recently, Kaka has displayed the 'I belong to Jesus' shirt.
