Phutbol... No... He wasn't... That term is pretty much known by everyone and most people (explicably not yourself for some reason) and it is a pretty racist remark.
Also... Why does everyone under rate Serbia and Ghana? Don't want to be a bearer of bad news guys, but we were rated the lowest in this group. Ok... Betting wise maybe not, but that has to do with patriotism more than anything. Seriously, if we are going to beat either of those two teams we need our tactics up to scratch. Pim has a big job ahead of him. Personally, I don't think Pim has the right mentality. But I hope I'm wrong.

I'd take the look of dispair on Ruka's face after the game over Grella's meaningless comments any day.
We want players who play with heart.

We were always going to lose this match. Let's not kid ourselves. I really hope we can improve. Here's a link to the boys smiling. We all need to regroup! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ErEk2720CA

I think Ruka deserves a shot; he was one of the only positives from the loss. Possibly start Kennedy and Kewell up front or stick with the one striker, but make sure we can have impact subs coming on. Be able to change the formation if required. We can’t afford to give away early goals. Ghana is a winnable game, however mentally and strategically will be very tough.

That is the sort of comment I would expect from somebody just going thru the motions, as was witnessed during the game. But hey ... what can you expect from a team that was so adequately neutered by their own captains attitude before the game. Grella is part of the old boy's club that achieved what they wanted, just like their coach, get to the WC. FFA got what they paid for obviously, got to the WC and into the wc as well!!!!

Like Cahill, Grella has been a red card waiting to happen since NZ. Team selection - Danny boy - good thinking.

I love Vinnie, OK? I REALLY LOVE VINNIE AND I WANT HIS BABIES!
But I'm sorry Vinnie, you're woefully out of form and off the pace. We simply cannot afford to have you as a DM because it's giving our centre-backs the shits (and they're gonna find it tough enough as it is).
Here is my lineup and likely substitutions for Ghana. I do honestly believe we can win that game, but I get a bad feeling that the Socceroos have developed a culture of sticking their head in the sand. It's blatantly obvious that changes are required:
Formation: 4-2-3-1
GK: Schwarzer DF: Wilkshire - Neill - Moore - Chipperfield DM: Culina - Valeri MF: Emerton - Holman - Bresciano ST: Kennedy
SUBS (to be made in second half): Kewell on - Kennedy off Jedinak on - Valeri off
and either;
Carney on - Bresciano off (Chipperfield moves to wing) or; Vidosic on - Bresciano off
Ghana showed a weakness against Serbia against set pieces. This is something Australia must exploit early with Bresciano and Kennedy. In the second half we must use the pace of Kewell and/or Vidosic with balls over the top, the type of which Jedinak can deliver.
We must not play a high line but still maintain possession and attack all game. This will obviously be difficult however we have left ourselves with no choice.

Hey Riv You'd be used to adversity and failure with all those botched attempts to get an A-League franchise?

OK, I've done my whining and soul-searching and ranted about Pim's selections and formations and now I am over it, and I'm with Grella. We need to move on.
We should now save further deconstruction and analysis until after the Ghana game, and until that point try and talk up the positives.
Basically, if we were in battle getting the shit kicked out of us I'd rather be in the trenches with people who bounce back from adversity quickly and with decisiveness. We all need to do that now.

Yeah, okay we got thrashed but lok whowe were up against, a team that has only been named kings of Europe several times and also 3 times champions of the world. It is an achievement in itself to get to the World Cup because that means that we are in the top 32 teams in the world, that is amazing. Ghana and Serbia are next and to tell you the truth I think that we can win an d go through to the round of 16.
On another topics about the match, Tim Cahill should not have recieved a red for his tackle on Bastian Schweinsteiger because he clearly tried to pull out of the tackle, I think that it was at most worth a yellow card. What about the handball in the box aswell, wheres the penalty, stupid greaseball that they called a ref couldnt see because he had a bloody wall grease dripping down his face. Stupid decisions by Pim Verbeek as well because I think he should have played Bresciano, Kewell and Kennedy.
Anyway time for all the aussies to pull together and keep supporting the people who are representing our country because we are amazing team and we have to now get past Ghana and Serbia so everyone get behind them and with enough support they will get through.
C'mon Aussies we never lost faith in you.

It's true Vinnie. Get over it and move on!Shame about your own performance, you can do much better and the fans hope to see it. Ukraine lost 4-0 in their first group game last time and went out against Italy in the quarters! I know our opponents aren't Saudi Arabia or Tunisia, but Serbia and Ghana are very beatable if Australia roll up their sleeves, work as a team and have a little luck! What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Grella: We Need To Get Over It? SOCCEROOS midfielder Vince Grella has cautioned his teammates about dwelling on the 4-0 thrashing Australia received against Germany in its opening South Africa 2010 match in Durban.Have your say.
