Read- Grella refuses to play for Verbeek again, or uses knee excuse for being dropped What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Vinnie Ruled Out Of Ghana Game? SOCCEROOS midfielder Vince Grella has been ruled out of at least the crucial World Cup match against Ghana on Saturday with knee soreness.
Have your say.

No professional would rule themself out of a world cup game, 2 days out, with "knee soreness". Who do the FFA think we are??

I'd like to see Jedinak fill in - he knows where the goal is, it's more a matter of taming that bloody jabulani ball!
Won't be surprised if you've played your last game in green and gold Vinnie.

Grella is out injured, which eliminates the possibility of Pim picking him again. This might be a setback for Grella but is it a setback for the team, or proof that there is a God?

Setback??? Please explain?
If a holding midfielder in Green and Gold has been as carved as he has been lately I'm yet to see it. It's his passing range and experience that has kept him above Valeri and Jedinak... But his passing has been woeful.
Jedinak in please - or better still play 442 with Valeri bottom of the diamond.

This is not a setback (for Vinnie yes, but not team), this is great news. Grella has been a lialbility of late.

Injury Setback = A nice media friendly way of saying you are dropped but we dont want to compromise your club career.

After reading the article I thought I might have stirred trouble by suggesting that this was both good for Australia, and (despite having not seen any footage of the incident) probably just a way for Pim to drop him without compromising Vinnie's club career or having any blame put on him if the move backfires.
Vinnie used to be arguably the lynchpin of the Socceroos side. His distribution during 2006 was impecable and his defence solid but fair. Recently though his passing seems to be off, and his tackles have been painful to watch. Lets hope he can bounce back to his best form soon, because unlike some players in our squad, I still think he has a few good years left in him.
Looking at Pim's options then he will likely pick two out of Culina, Valeri and Jedinak. Previous games have suggested that Pim prefers Jedi as a sub, which suggests a Culina/Valeri parnership. This would definitely open the door for Bresciano in the center of midfield. With Harry on the left and Emmo on the Right, Pim has the option of either Jesus or Garcia up front. Unless he pull another suprise and goes with Holman, however previous records suggest that Pim prefers to use his speed and energy to run at tiring players later in the game.
1-0 to the Socceroos

I'm sorry if I anger some Vinnie fans but unfortunate he is injured but happy he is not playing. Always thought he was a liability ever since he got sent off against Japan in the Asian cup a few years back.
