Schwarzer 8 - seems to be coming to grips with the world cup ball, was solid throughout and made a great save.

Carney 5 - seemed a bit lost and flat footed at time but definitely not the worst.

Lucas Neill 7 - Back to his best and played like a captain again.

Craig Moore 6.5 - Made some good and important tackles but still beaten for pace time and time again, gave away a lot of frees.

Luke Wilkshire 7 - I though he played well, delivery was good and defending was solid. A pity he couldnt finish that chance but i guess that why he's a fullback.

Mark Bresciano 7 - Looked to be getting back to his better form, got past his markers and delivered a smart free kick to set up the goal.

Brett Holman 7 - Energetic and on his toes to get the goal, good tackling and fight but his passing game was back to its worst and too many passes went behind the intended recipient.

Jason Culina 4 - It was time for him to step up and he did not rise to the occasion, gave away the ball numerous times in important positions and was lucky not to have cost us goals.

Carl Valeri 8.5 - Man of the match for mine, his energy and work rate were excellent and the way he played his position really showed how bad a job Grella has been doing of late. Automatic starter from now on.

Brett Emerton 5.5 - I thought it was one of the worst games that ive seen him play for the socceroo's, his touch was off, partly to blame for the Ghana goal, wasted a free kick in a promising position, and gave away numerous free kicks with his constant shirt grabbing. Will no doubt bounce back but lack of game time caught up with him on this occasion.

Harry Kewell 5 - IMO did not deserve the red, forget slow motion because in real time that ball came at him like a tracer bullet and i don't believe the hand ball was intentional, his eyes were clearly shut because he though it was going to hit him in the head. Looked promising and almost could of had a penalty in the first few minutes after stealing the ball.

Scott Chipperfield 7.5 - Looked very dangerous and put forward a good case to start in an attacking mid field position next game.

Josh Kennedy 3 - I'm afraid i just don't see how this guy gets a game, his touch was poor as per usual, physically weak and got pushed around as usual, could have scored if he kept a cooler head on the Wilkshire rebound. Would be far better utilized cleaning the change rooms after the game.

Nikita NA - not on long enough to judge.

Referee 3 - Fair enough that quite a few refs would have also seen the handball as a send off but what about the two footed studs up sliding tackle from behind by the Ghana player that happened right in front of him ??? worst tackle of the world cup so far and his wrong decision to to give a red card Cost Australia the game.

Pim Verbeek 3.5 - Actually had a go until we scored the goal then he was happy to watch the team play his patented Pim Verbeek anti football and pass the ball backwards at every opportunity. His poor coaching allowed Ghana back into the game to score the equaliser at a time when we should have been looking for a second goal and dominating.

Grham Arnold 0 - Soccer Australia's version of the anti christ.

Ruka caught badly flat footed from Kennedy's flick on at the death, needs to be used in wide position to utilise his only asset, pace. What team in this World Cup has gone chasing goals soon after scoring? Germany did but aprt from that every side has taken time to consolidate their lead. Verbeeks subs all came at good times and each player had an impact, possibly his best game in charge.

Consilidating a lead is one thing, passing the ball backwards at every opportunity and putting your own keeper under pressure when you had control of the game is somthing else. Were the other teams you spoke of staring at a minus three goal difference at the time???
