While sport should not be mixed with politics I feel Australian Soccer is now in deep doo dahs. Kevin Rudd, after guiding us through the GFC is struggling now in the polls and the media is going for the jugular.

Like it or not the majority of the Australian Public only have a passing interest in Football. They are more interested in their own pocket and their own welfare. The 50 or so million put into our World Cup bid is sure to be questioned by the casual observer who tuned into and watched Australia's lame ass attempt at football against the Germans.

Dutch Courage. Pimm has no balls, he rolled over for the Germans like world history has shown they do when confronted by a powerful opposition. Australia, on the other hand, has had some floggings. The Anzacs at Gallopili says it all. Australia is the only nation that holds a defeat as a national day of respect. That defeat, is what drives the majority of australia's mindset.

The Dutch, or most other nations do not understand our unique mindset. It is not the defeat that hurts the most but the effort put up in the fight that counts.

The other thing that the casual observer hates about soccer is how the players have so little control of their destiny once the ref is given a whistle. They will say " What a shit game this is " Why are we supporting these tossers. Fuck, put the money elsewhere. This game is full of cheats who do not deserve our support.

Maybe it's the Cowboy part of my name sake bubbling through now. Hell, even we got flogged by Melbourne Storm 58 - 12 yesterday. However, that was the players own lack of effort and maybe a coach who has lost the dressing room. but never was it obvious to the spectator that the Coach rolled over and put the shutters up.
