Feel a bit for the Koreans. They didnt deserve that scoreline. What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Portugal Thrash Hapless Koreans? PORTUGAL produced a spectacular performance of fluidity and flair to earn their first win of the World Cup in with a thumping 7-0 win over North Korea.Have your say.

I dont feel sorry for Koreans they came to play 10 men behind the ball to many teams in this WC playing defensive and promoting anti football they deserved to get thrashed. Edited by Davstar: 22/6/2010 12:10:25 AM

Let morning shine on the silver and gold of this land, Three thousand leagues packed with natural wealth. My beautiful fatherland. The glory of a wise people Brought up in a culture brilliant With a history five millennia long. Let us devote our bodies and minds To supporting this Korea for ever.
The firm will, bonded with truth, Nest for the spirit of labour, Embracing the atmosphere of Mount Paektu, Will go forth to all the world. The country established by the will of the people, Breasting the raging waves with soaring strength. Let us glorify for ever this Korea, Limitlessly rich and strong.

Edited by Davstar: 22/6/2010 12:10:25 AM What the fuck do you expect them to do. Play 4-2-4. That is such an unbelievably ignorant comment. Their defence is what got them through qualifying so why wouldn't they play defensive. I just wanted Portugal to get 3 more to record the heaviest ever WC win.

At least it shows 7-0 scorelines are possible.
A disappointing result that puts Asia in a poor light.

A disappointing result that puts Asia in a poor light. Not really. Most people were expecting North Korea to get slaughtered in all 3 games. The Brazilian game just provided a false dawn and everyone thought they would be competitive in their last 2 games. It wouldn't surprise me if they concede 5+ against the Ivorians.

Not all of them are. Jong Tae-Sae's parents were refugees and he was born in Japan but decided to play for North Korea. Hong Yong-Jo in Russia, I know he had an offer from France(I think) but North Korea didn't let him go and then he had an offer from Serbia North Korea deemed them ok to go to and from there he want to Russia. An Yong-Hak is another one born in Japan and has played his whole career in Japan apart from 4 seasons in South Korea. Edited by sydneycroatia58: 22/6/2010 01:23:27 AM

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/jun/21/north-korea-tv-portugal-world-cup...Unlucky. I guess they got a little too confident after the first game. What's the bet the "signal failed" and the broadcast was cancelled part way through, with a subsequent news release stating that North Korea had won.

NK started OK, but once the confidence dropped low enough and the confidence of Portugal went sky-high things got real ugly.
I sort of feel for them, but at the same time am happy that there has been a bigger default in this WC now than what we copped against Germany!

Pity since they were playing pretty fucking good in the first half. Created plenty of opportunities for themselves as well but i guess they cracked as soon as Portugal scored the second goal

No team in the history of WC football have parked the bus and conceded 7. Watch the game. They came out in the second and pushed a little higher. Were scored on again, so pushed higher..... Parked the bus......... If they had parked the bus the scoreline would have been a bit more respectable. Which is what I expected them to do. But, credit to them, they pushed on.

I don't think they parked the bus this time. If anything I think they showed they went to SA willing to give thmselves the best chance of making the second round, and wanted to create chances in the hope of a possible upset. Now that they are out of the tournament, they can probably play to their strengths in the last game against Cote d'Ivoire. sydneycroatia58 wrote:road warrior wrote:At least it shows 7-0 scorelines are possible.

Nevertheless, they are supposedly here as one of Asia's best 4 teams. When their results are poor, it not only reflects on them, it also reflects on the teams who finished behind them in qualifying. This result combined with Bahrain's loss to New Zealand opens the AFC up to the potential argument that they have been given one too many WC spots.

or the potential argument that more needs to be done in the region and thus giving australia the world cup would be the best thing ever :P
