Are we as armchair critics, too harsh on our club and national team players if they play poorly?

Look at it this way these players are getting paid bucketloads of money to play the sport that we love and the sport that we have to pay just to play. If they play shit they deserve the criticism. It comes with the territory.

Aloisi is a perfect example. He's getting paid over a million dollars a season to score goals and when he doesn't do that on a regular basis he deserves every bit of stick he gets.

As an Arsenal fan I criticise a lot of the players a fair bit because as an Arsenal player I expect the best from them and when they don't perform they get the criticism.

Umm Aloisi was our highest goal scorer last season AND scored 2 criticle goals that got us through to the Final. Not really a perfect example after all, was it?

I think he was referring to his first season at Sydney FC, i was too. But in all fairness, he could have scored another 5 last season.

yes we are at times and properly should nto be....

but...

if you are paying your hard earned money to watch these guys who train day in and day out and get big bucks, you would want a good return.

if the players have had a good run of form and they slip up one game, then you can understand, but if its a constant, then they need to answer some questions.

I don't recall too much criticism of the players after the Germany game, most of the bile was directed squarely at Pim.

Australia is ranked in the top 20 in the world. We shouldn't be losing 4-0 while playing with no heart. They deserved the stick they got because of how unbareable it was to watch that match as a football fan. It wasn't Australia, and they deserve to know that

Think Busdriver and gang can just harden up. They're professional footballers - if they aren't doing better than the guys that are already in the A-League, come in and think they deserve to be treated as some sort of gods and swan around for a while, then they shouldn't come.

These guys are earning over six figures a year playing football, if they're not making the grade then they deserve to hear about it, just like if you don't do any other job well enough.

And as professionals, if they can't take the criticism then fucking retire. Because you're GOING to have bad game and you're GOING to cop criticism for it, and it's HOW you bounce back from that criticism that marks how good you are as a player. So being a whiney bitch gets you nowhere.

In recent light of Scott Chipperfield's comments and now he's saying he doesn't wanna come back to the A-League because of it, he also mentioned Sydney FC fans and our treatment of former striker John Aloisi.

I was dissapointed at times with Aloisi, but i feel some of the slack he recieved was a bit unfair. These guys after all, are only human, and they do make mistakes, like the rest of us, they have bad days, and what not.
