I reckon that the 10-man Germany going down to Serbia in the second game could work really well for us. Always beware a good team coming off the back of a shock loss, they tend to be really focussed to not only win but to win big! I wouldn't be surprised to see them really put Ghana to the sword in this game! It's going to be a nervous night with much channel flicking I'm sure! What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Chippers Holds Out Hope? SOCCEROOS veteran Scott Chipperfield insists Australia still has a better than average chance of making it through to the second round of the World Cup.
Have your say.

with our lack of experienced attacking options and his proven scoring record i personally would love to see chippers in an attacking role. his efforts against ghana after coming on suggest his form is there atm to be a handful for the serbian defenders.

Would not be at all suprised to see Germany give Ghana an absolute hiding... They will be determined to not only make it to the next round but to put a strong performance in while doing so... 3 or 4 nil I think it will finish...

Ill be honest if Australia doesnt make it out of the group i dont want ghana to make it out LMAO. When Kewell 'handled' the ball the were quick to wave imaginary red cards. Then hack breceiano and pretent like nothing happened. Then they say after the game they should have won after being dominated by us.

Yeah im dissapointed with the refs so far in this WC. If Timmys tackle was a red then the ghana tackle on Bresh was too. Plus numerous other handballs that have happened and have been given yellows or no cards at all. Australias luck has to change and here is hoping its tomorrow morning. COME ON BOYS RIP UP SERBIA AND SHOW THE WORLD WHAT WE ARE MADE OF

After coming back from injury, Chippers scored 14 goals for Basel playing as a striker and was voted their player of the year. His form is definatly there.

I wouldn't mind Chippers being played as our striker, it would allow us to have interplay between the wings and the centre on the ground as opposed to easily picked off crosses.

I'd prefer it if Ghana simply beat Germany. A much simpler equation than to expect that Germany will do us favours by scoring a lot of goals against them.

I think we would all prefer that, though it would have been even better if we had just scored that second goal when Wilks was 1 on 1 with the keeper.

I hope Ghana beat Germany too which is the beauty of this game its very possible. But given Germany may get knocked out if they loose they should come out firing here's hoping they come out all guns blazing and beat Ghana by a good margin

Will be depressing if we actually be Serbia by a goal or two but Ghana and Germany have a draw or Germany beat Ghana by only a goal or two. "Please Ghana, beat Germany" or "Please Germany thrash the crap out of Ghana" to go with our "come on Aussie, hammer Serbia" Its not over yet, but what a shit spot to be in. South Africa managed to beat France and still didnt get the goal difference they needed.

We need Germany to belt em - Ghana has only scored 2 goals so far, both from the penalty spot. Otherwise, they haven't looked very dangerous at all, I can't see them beating Germany.

Barring another crap referee i can't see Ghana beating Germany. I can see Germany thrashing Ghana though because their pride is hurting after losing to Serbia, 3-0 is more than possible. The big question is can we beat Serbia by two goals or more? Surely Chippers has to play somewhere near the front, with him and Chaill running riot through the attacking midfield we can put a scare into the Serbs. CMON AUSSIE.

It would, but I just can't see Ghana beating Germany, esp with the latter having their backs to the wall, so will be hoping for a demolition of Ghana by the Germans. Saying that I don't mind eating my word re: Ghana beating Germany. Of course we could just do Serbia over by 7 goals

Out of interest how are people going to be watching this? At the same time, flick between the two, Germany game then Aus game, Aus game then Germany game?

I'll watch the Australian game and keep ficking over to see the score in the Germany game. I would'nt be able to handle the suspense of waiting to watch the Germany replay.

I'm gonna stick my neck out and say that Ghana haven't a snowflakes chance in hell of beating Germany tonight.
There is a better chance of Germany knocking in 4.
Although knowing Germany they will do just enough to qualify

It still baffles me why Chippers is on the bench. He has been our most consistent in recent years. He had a bad game against the German's (thanks to the midfield) but so did half the side. In recent games against Denmark and USA, oz only looked liked scoring when Chipper went forward. This will prob be his last game for oz great way to send him out.

There's a big chance of Ghana getting some favourable decisions in this match considering they are now Africa's only hope of advancing to the next stage.

I think all the big European teams are playing rather 'half-assed' in this world cup. No Euro countries have made it to round of 16 in the first 2 groups. England are still hopeful but could go out it they lose or draw tonight. Italy could also be knocked out with no win yet. Germany have not secured a progress and in an unlikely scenario, they could end their campaign. Spain will need to win to progress but they probably will.

I would also be interested in which 2 teams from group C would progress. I would love to have Slovenia draw against England and USA draws with Algeria to go 2nd. If we managed to get 2nd in our group, we will have Slovenia, which I think is easier opponent than the USA

Being an aussie with German heritage, I would like to see Australia knock a couple past Serbia while also wanting to see Germany smash Ghana - hopefully something like they did to saudi araba in 2002 (I know a slightly different opposition) but an 8 nil hiding would be lovely to watch... Although as mentioned above - would not suprise me to see a few dodgy decisions against the Germans (AGAIN) in order to "help" an African nation... Hopefully that doesnt happen though...

+1 with those comments on Chippers up front. He does it for Basel, scored more than our other strike options, and he's made more of an impact during Roo's games than any of them have as well.
Germany will beat Ghana.
