Neither he nor the French team should have been there anyway.

I think the FFF need their heads read for even giving this guy the job in the first place. EURO 2008 was a disaster. Germany 2006 probably made him look a lot better than he actually is.

Not just Zidane, although he was awesome, but Thuram and Makelele as well. He forced these guys out of retirement by using the press to get public opinion on his side. If any of these guys had told him where to go, they would have been the villains.

True, he was a coach whose team carried him in spite of what a complete shambol he is - so when they went so did the results. When players of the calibre of Thierry need to rely on outright cheating to win games then you know there is something terrbily terribly wrong.

Not really. They had a 0-0 draw as their only point like in 2002. But at least they scored a goal unlike in 2002 when they went out without scoring.

Also remember in 2002 that were World Champions and had won Euro 2000 just 2 years prior. 2002 was a much bigger failure then this

You cannot forget that France was also in the world cup final in 2006. surely the fall from grace in that and the bickering and in fighting is worse? the talisman of 1998 and 2000 was injured for 2002 - you could see france were missing the flair and attack of zidane.


Totally get what you mean, 2002 was surprising, considering what they came from but the attitude from 2010 was horrible. I dont remember in 2002 where the team decided not to train or send a player home.

But with a new coach, laurent blanc it can only get better as was the case from 2002. (at least you think so)
