Not a bad effort for having no striker, a shit coach and a first up 4 nil loss.

My vote went to Holman, as he stood up when counted and grabbed us two MASSIVE goals. No real standouts though. Perhaps Beauchamp if he had had more game time. He was great tonight.

Holman had more impact than other player. As soon as he came on, we always scored.

Obvious choices of Holman and Valeri. Also besides the first game, I thought Lucas Neill was a rock at the back. But lets not dwell on Germany. Great effort from the boys!

I voted Valeri as he has now established himself as our number one defensive midfielder...but Holman, Schwarzer and Whiltshire were all epic.

Wilkshire, Holman & Valeri were the standouts......noticable 3 of the younger members of the squad seem to have been our best. The future looks a whole lot brighter than it did in the aftermath of the Germany match. Bring on the Asian Cup with this squad minus Moore & Grella.

Don't get me wrong, he played well against Ghana and Serbia, but we didn't necessarily play better when he played or because of him. For mine it would have to be Wilkshire or Schwarzer. Schwarzer was his consistent best. Wilkshire was so incredibly effective getting forward on the overlap, a reliable right back and a consistent threat from crosses, he was probably the most accurate of the wide players. It's obvious he's in great form and one could argue that he's put in some of the best performances out of any of the right backs at the cup.

Culina? He is the classic example of why our Socceroos should stay in Europe if they want to stay playing in the national team. From being a great player for us in Germany 2006 to getting in the way in South Africa 2010 shows what competing at the low level of the A-League does to a good player.

afromanGT wrote:Schwarzer was his consistent best. Really? Schwarzers drop of the ball this morning was forgiveable, but it wasn't his "consistent best", and that header that the Germans scored should have been his ball. He had a few brilliant stops (particularly early on in this mornings game), but I wouldn't have rated him that well this WC. Normally more consistent.

Once he came on, before Timmy was sent off, we looked more settled and ready to step into gear than we had all game.

Ummmm..... Dont think antone really stood out, for mine. Holman didnt do too much more than his goals, as important as they were. Shcwarzy's drop this morning was understandable. Unsighted, then a bounce in front of him. Wilkshire missed a great chance against Ghana. Valeri....... cant really think of too much that he did. Which probably means he was brilliant, as you only notice people in his position when they fuck up. Ok then. Valeri it is.

Holman, Wilkshire & Valeri were are three best performers. From watching all the matches in our group we were clearly the second best team in it. Germany scored 5 goals from open play we scored 3 and Serbia scored 2. Ghana scored from 2 penalties and are no hope in the next round as they are not good enough to challenge the USA. There are an amazing number negative people on this forum.
