[quote=jamo91]I think we need to calm down abit with the youth. I wanna see them come through as much as the next person but we cant just throw them all in. [quote]
This is about the world cup in 4 years time not tomorrow. the kids that are being mentioned(Oar, Burns, Holland, Leckie, Kantarovski, Mooy, Williams, etc..) are aged between 18 and 22 which means they will be 22-26 come 2014 hardly too young. And most of them have already been playing senior first team football and already at least being called up to the socceroos. These are the players we need to be looking at as there is not a lot of depth in our 23-28 year olds (27-32 in 2014) to make up an entire squad. We will have a young squad for that world cup weather you like it or not and we need to start building it now.
Who knows, our star of the next world cup could be a 14-16 year old kid at the moment.

He's trialling with Melb Heart at the moment so hopefully they think he's up to it and we finally get to see what he's like. ????? You mean Valencia let him go? or is he being loned out? I assume Valencia has let him go, all i know for certain is that he played for Heart in their friendly the other other day as a triallist. I dont think he'd trial for a loan, im guessing he's try to earn a permanent contract with Heart.

once you sit back and think on it ,we do have a lot of up and comers playing abroad the things is a lot of them havnt made it yet and have a long way to go to become starting 11 players at there perspective clubs .i think spira needs a big boot up the ass,i know he has been hampered by injury but nows the time to get his body right to have a big preseason and a break out season, play regualy to eventually become the player he is ment to be or he might just fade away to having a average career. Pim is right in saying that we need the younger guys to be playing regulary to make our national team more successfull and also to make a name for themselves personally as well
also i do hope eddy bosnar gets a go, i rate him ,pity GA doesnt

I know there are shit loads more not on this list, but it does provide a little bit of information on most of the players. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Australian_football_(soccer)_players_playing_abroad This one is a bit more comprehensive, but no links to info, http://www.ozfootball.net/ark/Abroad/index.html And another, with links to some players. http://roosontheloose.blogspot.com/ Edited by villaboy: 24/6/2010 05:05:19 PMWhat the FFA NEED to do is make sure that the best of these kids play for us. Assuming the formation is 4-4-2, I'd say the squad would look a little something like this:
GK: Federici LB: Jamieson RB: Wilkshire CB: Kisnorbo CB: Spiranovic RM: Holman CM: Valeri CM: Ryhs Williams LM: Oar AMF: Cahill FW: Rukavytsa
Subs:
Langerak Galekovic Davidson Burns Kisnorbo Kilkenny Jedinak Milligan Danning Kennedy McDonald Leckie

Yeah, our main focus should be winning the Asian cup in January - for developing youngsters we can use the Olympic games and up coming youth tournaments.
In terms of Centre Forwards Scotty Mac will only be 31 come 2014. I am a firm believer that he suffered in Pim's system and will flourish under a more attack minded manager that will give him the strike partner that he craves. He's a must for the Asian Cup squad. more so then Kennedy IMO (who will be in the squad for 2014 but not in the starting lineup).

Langerak Bouzanis Zullo Neill Kennedy Rukavystya Milligan Vidosic Jedinak Holland Markelis Kilkenny
Actually very positive about some of our youngsters coming through now, and with Holman/Valeri stepping up, our future is bright. Selected Leckie as CF as I truly believe that he will be the next big thing in Australian football, the bloke is immense for his age. Davidson, Williams, Mooy, Antonis, Ciara........ List goes on. The only problem with a lot of these guys will be the same problem we have now. FIRST TEAM FOOTBALL. The average age of the 2014 squad will be pretty young, so some experience will be needed. The cupboard is no where near bare. Its just that they are pretty young. The big debate for me is when to bring these guys in?? Do we want to havea real shot at the Asian cup in January, or do we start building from there. Personally, I would prefer that we had a good go at winning some silverwear with most of the current squad, before rebuilding. It is at least something we have a realistic shot at winning in the short term. Edited by villaboy: 24/6/2010 03:30:47 PM

I'd love to see a central defence in 2-3 years time of Williams and Spiranovic. I think Williams will ultimately settle into that position. Both are good on the ball and possess height and speed with Valeri as cover infront of the back 2 or Kantarovski, if he develops as he should.
The FFA should start from tomorrow looking for our next centre forward. This is where we look to be most thin on the ground.

-------------Federici-----------------
Wilkshire--Milligan--Spiranovic--Lowry
----------------Valeri---------------- Holman-----------------------------Oar ----------------Cahill----------------
----------Kennedy-----Mcdonald--------
Bench: Langerak, Beauchamp, Williams, Vidosic, Ruka.
Thats guessing on current trends. Will be interesting to see how those new defenders develop and whether other talents such as davidson, kilkenny, holland, zullo etc step up. Carney should be ditched as soon as lowry or davidson breaks through, hes good attacking but defensively a huge risk.

GK: Langerak RB: Williams LB: Carney CB: Milligan CB: Spiranovic CM: Valeri RM: Wilkshire CM: Jedinak CF: Djiite CF: Burns LM: Oar
Supersubs- Tim Cahill, Harry Kewell
I'm sure some players will come out of nowhere in that time.

Yep just as players like Oar, Kantarovski and Leckie came out of the blue last year more will emerge each season to take the league by storm. With some of the squads in the league at the moment it looks as if the A league is coming of age.

The next few years will be very interesting. Milligan was in the squad in 2006 as a 20 year old, I think he was always very much in mind for 2010 - if anything he's under performed against expectations. he wont reach his peak as a defender until 28 - 32 though

Formation..? ---------------------- Federici -------------------- Wilkshire ----- Spiranovic ---- Lowry ---- Carney -----------------------Valeri-------------------- -------------Holman--------------------------Oar-- -------------------Cahill------------------------ -----------McDonald-----------Leckie------------- Think we'd have trouble down our right side when defending because Wilkshire isn't the best defender (not to say he's bad, just that he's an attacking wing-back rather than a traditional full-back), he won't get the right support from Holman. Also, I may be wrong, but I suspect that Leckie will end up being more of a Paul Scholes/Tim Cahill-like attacking central midfielder than an out-and-out forward. David Williams
Actually he is unfortunately a bit like Leckie and Oar - young with lots of pace and can make some good shots at goal, but against good defenders simply can't get the ball past any of them.
Would still like to see more of Rukavytsya.
