Could have retired with is head held high in 2006 instead he will be remembered as a fool!
This was An EPIC FAILURE.

What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Lippi Holds His Hands Up?
ITALY coach Marcello Lippi took full responsibility for his side's World Cup group exit, admitting his side had played with "terror in their heart, head and legs".

Have your say.

The second half of the tournament though i thought Webb was a bit indulgent with some of the tackling by Italy - how Pepe stayed on the pitch is beyond me. No attempt to get the ball, a blatant petulant kick and it is just a yellow - compare that to Cahill's treatment.

A complete lack of consistency between refs - mind you Webb's play on attitude has certainly made for the 2 best games of the tournament.

What a goal by Quagliarella !!!

However in an act of schadenfreude I enjoyed the conclusion.

Just shows how sometimes it is a matter of centimetres between success and failure.

I saw that and couldn't believe he wasn't sent over, it was so blatant you could have seen it from row Z. He clearly had the shits from the missed chance and basically just kicked the guy.

For starters you didn't pick two of the greats of Italian Foootball in Nesta and Totti. Cassano is a class above some of these players with a lack of creativity.

Isn't it better that a coach who made mistakes in selections or tactics should stand up and take responsibility? Who else can reasonably shoulder the blame?
Players such as Gattuso have also put their hands up, at least that appears more honourable than pointing at everyone else.

I'm also reasonably happy that Italy are out. Time for someone else to win this thing.
