Which country do you (humourously or seriously) think will win the 2010
World Cup from what's happened so far and please say why and/or how your
choice of team will (humourously or seriously) win.

Argentina - because they're better than everyone else.

I predicted Argentina or Brazil about a year and a half ago, and I haven't seen anything to change that yet.

Argentina, because Maradona takes all the media attention and pressure away from the players and they can just focus on playing football. Based on the way they have played so far, the look like they are really enjoying being out there.

This man makes a good point.

Seriously think they will give it a nudge but just can't help but think that Maradona's tactical naivety will lead to them being beaten by a well organised side.

If Rooney finds form I think the whole England team will lift, their next game is probably the perfect game to wake the team up which could see them go on.

Spain still very likely also in my opinion.

I don't believe for a moment that Maradona is anything more than a glorified cheerleader. He has a very competent staff beside him making all the tactical calls.

Any South American team. Argentina and Brazil are the two favourites.
But imo Netherlands may me a suprise to make the final.

A good friend, who has a great knowledge in the World of Football, once said to me this. "Maradona I think is a horrible coach, and has no idea about tactics whatsoever, but he knows 1 thing and that is how to win a World Cup. He knows how to get the team into the right mindset, and he knows how to make them perform on the big stage."

This stuck with me. In the qualifying stages for the WC, Argentina were rubbish compared to their normal high standards. But now at the World Cup, they are performing at their best on the big stage. The match against Mexico will prove I think, if they have it in them to win the World Cup.

That's assuming Spain make it that far. I don't think Spain will make the second round.
My tip is any of Aregtnina, Germany or the Netherlands to win it.

Alot of people actually underate the Dutch I think, so to many it will be a suprise.

I agree, that the dutch can win it, from the games I've been watching, they seem to be a very well organised unit.

I don't think people underrates them, they just think that they are perennial underachievers and can't see them going on to win the thing. Saying that if they did I don't think anyone would really be shocked.
