Those goals were good. Basically half awesome goals, half exploits of the engine (ball in the air = accuracy lol) but still good.

I'll be playing BF3!

Gonna trade in my old 360 console and a bunch of games I've finished to pay for it.

Yeah.

I actually have a 360 250gb Elite, but that's basically waiting for Mass Effect 3, playing DVD's and my brother plays MW2. If ME1 was on PC when I originally played it, I'd probably be done with 360 for good by now.

EB Games have a 50% bonus on trade-ins when you preorder.

Thinking about trading in my old 20gb console and:
Tiger Woods 12 - Sucked compared to 09 - Funny story, I imported this from play-asia for $47 au, with the 50% trade-in I get $57 from EB for it.
Battlestations Pacific - Done.
Red Dead Redemption - Never got the hang of the controls, didn't grab me.
Gears Of War 2 Limited Edition - Done
GRID - Sucked
Halo 3 - Done
Army Of Two - Done
Tiger Woods 09 - Done
Dead Rising - Tried playing it, save points frustrated me.
Dead Space - Never played it, seen all the deaths online, no point lol.
HAWX - Done
Red Faction Guerilla - Done
Forza 2 LTD Edition - Picked it up cheap, not really a fan of racing games, didn't play it long.
Condemned 2 - Never played
Crackdown - Done
Fight Night Round 3 - Done
Condemned - Played it for a bit, not that interesting
FIFA 09 - Lol
Rainbow 6 Vegas - Never played, got better FPS's on PC
Saint's Row - Played for a while, got stuck on a stupid mission, quit.
Jon Woo Stranglehold - Never played
Rockstar Table Tennis - Sucks
FIFA 08 - Lol

With the 50% bonuses that'll be worth $328.75.

The 4 games I want to pre-order are Space Marine, Deus Ex: HR, Far Cry 3 and BF3, which is $342.

Costing me a total of $13.25 for the 4 PC games.

It's worth playing DX just to play DX. Still one of the best games ever.

Get some texture packs as well to pretty it up.

edit - hah, I just found my old 120gb HDD. That should take me into profit lol.

Deus Ex 3 is set before the original, so story-wise you can play it first. But if you can find it, and if it will run on your computer, should play the original. Was leading game in its genre of the time IMO. I was looking at gameplay clips on youtube the other day, boy has AI come along way since the original.

EDIT: Skip to 3:20

I haven't played DX2 though

So about half my games got rejected for being imports lol.

But with the console, both HDD's and all the rest of the games with their 50% bonuses, was able to pre-order BF3, Far Cry 3, and only paid $40 for Deus Ex HD.

They left me Red Dead Redemption and Tiger Woods 12, so I can go back to those if I want again later.

So basically best of both words

Yeah, that's why I stopped buying from play-asia. Try these 2:

Lol yeah.

I don't trade-in at all (this was the only time I've ever done it, and only because I had the console and hdd's sitting unused), so I usually go with wherever has the lower prices.

Only reason I used EB was because BF3 is going to force Origin and won't be on steam and because I had the spare console.

I know FC3 and DX:HR are on steam (DX:HR is steam-works so I'll be able to use it's code on Steam anyway, and FC3 I might be able to ), but you know, $213 worth of trade-in's basically gave me 2 games for free and 1 game for under the lowest price you can get anywhere, and all legit retail copies.

\:d/

If BF3 was on Steam, I'd have probably done a trade-in for Mass Effect 3.

We both have Steam accounts. Say Skyrim comes out, and we both want to play it. If we buy it through steam on my account, she has to buy it again, to play it on her account.

Sony offers free ID theft protection to Aussies
Asher Moses
August 11, 2011 - 3:02PM
http://www.smh.com.au/digital-life/games/sony-offers-free-id-theft-protection-to-aussies-20110811-1io5u.html

Sony has offered the owners of about 1.5 million Australian PlayStation Network accounts free identity theft protection to make up for its lax security that resulted in one of the world's biggest privacy breaches.

Users of the service who are over 18 and had a PlayStation Network account on April 20 - the date it was hacked - are eligible for a year's free identity protection with global firm CS Identity.

Members began receiving emails this week containing the unique code they need to redeem the offer.

The package includes "CyberAgent Internet Surveillance", whereby CS Identity's technology scours the internet for unauthorised use of your identity. The firm conducts 24/7 monitoring of criminal web pages, chat rooms, bulletin boards and file sharing sites to identify trading or selling of customers' personal information.

Identity restoration is also included, which involves the firm helping customers restore their identity after becoming the victim of identity theft.

The data stolen during the breach includes names, gender, addresses, email addresses, birthdays and login passwords for Sony's PlayStation Network and its Qriocity music streaming service.

All up 1,560,791 Australian accounts were affected - 280,000 of which had credit card details. This is a fraction of the 77 million total accounts exposed worldwide.

Security experts have warned that even without credit card details, hackers could use the other stolen details to construct highly targeted and believable attacks designed to steal more personal information and/or infect computers.

The Australian Privacy Commissioner, Timothy Pilgrim, has been investigating the breach and it is understood this investigation is ongoing. Pilgrim does not have the power to fine Sony but will likely obtain undertakings from the company to help ensure there is less of a chance of future breaches.

Sony shut down its PlayStation Network on April 20 when it learnt of the security breach. But it wasn't until a week after the initial hack that Sony revealed personal details had been stolen, which the company said was because it did not discover the theft until later in its investigations.

"We deeply apologise for the inconvenience we have caused," said Kazuo Hirai, chief of Sony's PlayStation video game unit, who was among the three executives who bowed for several seconds at the company's Tokyo headquarters in the traditional style of a Japanese apology.

"This criminal act against our network had a significant impact not only on our consumers, but our entire industry."

The original Deus Ex is on Steam and usually for a cheap as hell price. (currently for $9.99)

Its worth playing like the others guys said, because its one of the best games ever. Also despite the fact that 3 is a prequel, I think it will be tying into Deus Ex a bit so would be good to have that knowledge.

I haven't played Invisible War but from what I've read, I don't think I'm missing much at all and apparently it was a really shoddy console port to PC, but the entire game was meh.

Seriously, if you consider yourself a (PC) gamer and haven't even played Deus Ex (or even heard of it), then you're not a gamer. Go back to Angry Birds, Farmville and Call of Duty.

Actually it isn't, at least not in the literary sense. It's set before the original but is a separate story ie. doesn't lead into the story of the original, but does set the context.

Knew about it a few days ago. That with the 50% software trade-in bonus was the reason I went ahead with the EB games pre-order.

I downloaded the leaked Deus Ex beta today, apparently it's about 10 hours long.

I played 2 minutes of it and shut it down and deleted the whole thing  decided to just wait the 2 weeks.

Glad I've got a 500gb download cap.

Downloaded about 250gb of Anime in the last two days

I've got 150gb for the next 19 days. Should be fine. That's about 7 gb a day.

I wrote this on whirlpool about the matter (with a bit added):

Quote:
Steam is one of the lowest cost distribution channels in the world for software.

Ea's short term strategy would lose them money as people switch to retail (which gives EA less margin) or cheap key sites.

In medium/long term (say another 2/3/4 years) once they have a 'customer base', from BF3 and TOR and their PC Sports games (plus the Sims I guess), I wouldn't be surprised if they simply pull all EA games from everywhere online but Origin. There's no point in building their own distribution system if they aren't going to use it's monopoly power.

They'll crack down on cheap/import keys, lock each new game to a specific Origin account, and essentially become a full monopoly for EA games, and everyone will be paying either full price on Origin or full price at Retail, giving EA back the control they have lost due to the rise of Steam. Consumes will absolutely hate this but they will have no recourse. In Australia it might be illegal for EA to do that, but it'll be something that EA will be able to lawyer up about and it'll never mean anything. EA will do it regardless.

If you want an example of what this infrastructure duplication is all about, just look at the 90's cable wars* for how the current system works (Ea with it's own games vs Steam with it's own games + others) or the current copper network monopoly**.

The only two questions are the aforementioned using monopoly power to pull EA from all online sites but Origin, and will they open Origin up to other companies?

Only a handful of companies are in a position to truly compete (and not just duplicate/monopolise their infrastructure by making download services only for their titles) with Valve/Steam, and EA is one of them.

If they open up Origin and compete then there might be light at the end of the tunnel for the consumer. If they choose to stick to EA only, then it'll only be worse for the consumer, no matter what EA pr bullshit is spewed.

Edit for here: The "Cable Wars" was the Optus/Telstra HFC pay tv cable overbuild. Optus ran out a Hybrid Fibre Coaxial network for Optusvision, and Telstra followed right behind them. Billions of dollars were completely and utterly lost by both parties simply to avoid market share being lost, when the smarter choice would have been a combined HFC build with open access between the two of them. It basically meant they both went down the exact same streets building the exact same cabling, and servicing the exact same customers, ie, duplication. It was also the instigator for the "Super League War" in Rugby League.

**When Howard sold Telstra without separating the Retail and Wholesale side of the copper network/internet access, which we saw had devastating impacts on speed and price of internet in Australia by impeding development of ADSL2+ and slowing speeds. It's taken the NBN for the problem to finally be corrected, when in reality we should have had an predecessor to NBN (FTTN) built in the mid-late 90's

Gamespot wrote:
At this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, Konami confirmed the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, saying the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 compilation would bundle together Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and last year's Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Today, series creator Hideo Kojima revealed players will be getting even more for their money with the package.

In a series of posts on his Twitter feed today, Kojima offered a bit of extra information on the bundle. Specifically, he confirmed that the version of Metal Gear Solid 3 included in the package is Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, the 2006 follow-up that packed in an additional online mode, the ability to control the in-game camera with the right analog stick, and other tweaks.

However, Subsistence also featured emulated versions of the original MSX versions of series progenitors Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2. That makes the collection a little more comprehensive than before, with the original Metal Gear Solid now the most glaring omission. (Kojima did note that the Japanese Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will include Metal Gear Solid, but it omits Peace Walker.)

The HD Collection isn't the only bit of Metal Gear nostalgia on the way. 3DS owners can look forward to the release of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater 3D later this year.

So that'll be
Metal Gear
Metal Gear 2
Metal Gear Solid 2
Metal Gear Solid 3
Metal Gear Solid: Peacewalker

All that's missing is Metal Gear Solid, and of course MGS 4. Both of which I already have. This calls for the greatest gaming marathon in history.

True Fact: I've never played a MGS game.

Downloaded Origin since I was going to have to eventually anyway.

The thing lets you change your EA ID, but doesn't tell you it's a one-time thing, and when I go to BF3.com it uses the EA ID instead of my Battlefield Name (which has it's own attached Veteran status and stats).

EA ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

My EA ID and BF names are close enough that it's not a big deal for the actual name, I just don't want to look like a first time noob when I've been playing BF games since 2003.
