"It is often the case that, even after a slow-motion replay, 10 different experts will have 10 different opinions on what the decision should have been.

In this case, those opinions would be on how many feet and inches the ball was over the line by.

What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Blunder Won't Force New Tech?
THE linesman's blunder that denied Frank Lampard a goal despite his shot clearly crossing the line won't force FIFA to change their stance on technology.

Have your say.

Technology wouldn't have helped that decision. The ball bounced straight back into play so there would have been no time for a video replay, so it still wouldn't have been given.

An extra official patrolling the goal line however would help greatly.

The play continues, the video is reviewed within seconds, if its a goal, the ref is advised', he blows his whistle & signals a goal. If its not a goal everyone just continues to play on. No need to stop the game & wait.

Sydcroatia...I think they mean some kind of hawkeye technology(like in tennis and cricket) . If 100% of the ball crosses the line, hawkeye will send a message.. Maybe a light could go off or something. That kind of technology would work and is accurate. Fifa`s argument is that it can't be used at all levels of the game..but I think it should be used for big games.

Blatter is just an old shit who won't do anything positive like this for some aspects of the game.

Without goal line technology the game is open to corruption, cheating and stupidity. We all know how long goal celebrations carry on - technology would not hold up play one jot. In the meantime, and for the sake of historical accuracy, I recommend we introduce OS (Official Score) and AS (Actual Score)system in England's case that would read 4-1 (4-2). If all football media adopted it maybe that would embarrass FIFA into action.

No matter which technology is applied, at the end of the day a decision will have to be taken by a human being. This being the case, why remove the responsibility from the referee to give it to someone else?

Because that other person will have an idea as to what actually happened!

Why not use a "Goal" official behind the goal?

Wasn't this trialled? They would have to see things like this, plus all the shirt pulling, diving, holding, elbows to heads that happen in the box.

It would stop all that crap happening.

FIFA is run by dinasaurs.
Change will happen it is just a matter of time.
The ball has changed ,the shoes have changed, every aspect of coverage has changed.
When we are all watching games in 3D and getting more frustrated with referee errors enough will be enough.

That wouldn't work. You would have teams blowing up about a goal being allowed while they are on the attack and what not. That would just have to many logistical problems and not everyone would be happy with it.

The only thing that could work would be goal line officials like they had in the Europa League this season who can make a decision right there on the spot and doesn't delay the game.
