I too knew it was over the line but at the end of the day we were too slow and pedestrian compared to the Germans. Allowing the goal may have made a difference but we will never know. Anyway don't we always get shocking decisions against us in the knock out rounds - it is almost an unwritten rule.

Why oh why did Capello put Heskey on when the game needed chasing - England basically paid the price for not having goal scorers in the team.

England have been let down by poor keeping and defending, a lack of cynicism and a slow style of play. With the first goal by Klose if it was someone like Heinze defending he would have hit the deck and rolled 40 times until the ref gave a free and sent Klose off (unjustifiably) for an arm raised. Similarly with the final goal Ozil would have been bundled over the line in his own half before the attack ever developed. Instead barry did nowt.

:( Had that goal been given, it could have changed the match. 2-2 going into half time, you never know what would have gone on in that 2nd half, England would have gone into the 2nd with loads of confidence.

The Henry Handball and now this. I think Goal line Referees are the answer. Have 4 Assistants and allow them to go all the way around the edge of play.

How many referees does an American football pro game have? Seems like quite a few. Seems that one referee has to do more running than even the players because he's expected to cover the play at either end of the field.

The Germans came out to kill off the game in the second half. It wouldn't have changed a thing the way the Germans counter-attacked for the second two goals.

The thing that shits me though is half the German team would have seen it too, the goalie too. It would have been good sportsmanship for them to have said to the ref "Nein, it went in". Would have made for a more entertaining 2nd half too.

Why would they?

Neuer didn't turn around until it had bounced and the spin thrust it back towards him though, so he wouldn't have known. And this is the World Cup - sportsmanship isn't rewarded.
