Arsenal boss Wenger holding out for better Fabregas deal
June 28, 2010
The latest speculation from Spain over the ongoing Cesc Fabregas transfer saga suggests that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will sell the Spaniard, but is simply holding out for the best deal possible.
Arsenal captain Fabregas is thought to have said that he wants to join Barcelona, but the Gunners have rejected an initial €35 million bid for the player from the Spanish champions.
Arsene Wenger had reportedly insisted that the 23-year-old is staying put, and apparently said that the two have never even discussed the player's future, insisting that Fabregas has a contract with the Gunners until 2015.
However, Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo reports that Wenger "is not as inflexible as it seems." They claim that he gave his word to Fabregas before the World Cup that he would let him join Barcelona in the end but simply wants time in order to get the best deal possible for Arsenal.
With Sandro Rosell taking over as Barcelona president next week, by which time the World Cup will be in its latter stages, Mundo Deportivo predicts that there will then be progress regarding Fabregas' transfer, with a possible fee agreed at around the €45 million mark.

If they do sell him, which I don't think they will, it will be done very quickly after the WC so we can get a replacement as quick as possible. I can't see it being done if it gets to the end of July and he's still with us tbh.
