Why don't they just get Morgan Freeman to step in as a body double ? LOL

It depends on all kinds of things like what the image is being used for, whether someone's making money off it, whether the likeness of Mandela has even been copyrighted, who holds said rights, in which nations or regions that copyright applies, whether FIFA and Mandela (or the rights holder) have an agreement for this to wave rights.

hmmm but the World Cup in the photo and it's a FIFA event so don't they have the rights to it... or is alot more complicated

We said that after 02 and 06. 2010 won't be any different.

That photo won't be worth a thing unless they get permission to use Mandela's image rights.

Blatter and FIFA know the power of the image of Mandela holding the World Cup at the final for SA and the future use of the image by FIFA

Again, FIFA and Blatter fail, Blatter has to go after this World Cup.

The circumstances surrounding Mandela are unfortunate, but this is a massive event and you'd hope that for all his campaigning he'd be at the final. But if he can't go, he can't go and FIFA should know better.
