Agreed. Still a pretty horrid mistake on that free kick which should have been a corner. Realistically may have cost the Dutch the game.

What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Blatter Laments Webb's Task?
FIFA president Sepp Blatter today said English referee Howard Webb had a "very hard task" in last night's bad-tempered World Cup final between Spain and Holland that saw a record 14 yellow cards shown.

Have your say.

when it comes down to it the players are responsible for their behaviour and the way they carry on. deception, divng and cheating in the game doesnt help the games integrity.

In reality, I'm sure if this wasn't the world cup final with the ref really not wanting to "ruin" it by sending players off, the Netherlands would have been down to 9 players after 30 minutes. They can't really complain too much about anything after that. If they'd got what they deserved it would have been 11v9 for much of the game and I expect Spain would have torn them apart in that scenario.

The Dutch looked like they were involved in some sort of ambush marketing campaign for The Karate Kid! Especially that Kung Fu style kick to the chest of Xabi Alonso.
