I think you're taking that comment a lot more personally than it was intended. Whilst I reckon Goodwin still has potential to do well, in pretty much all his performances from the bench since being dropped he looks lethargic and disinterested.
Edited by jparraga: 12/12/2013 12:29:36 AM I am not taking anything personally. What annoys me is the lack of facts when making a statement. You say "in pretty much all his performances from the bench since being dropped he looks lethargic and disinterested." Since round two he has had two stints on the bench where he has come on the park. The rest he did not come off the bench. Along with that he was told do not attack, just hold the ball up and play for time. You can hardly blame him for looking lethargic when he is not allowed to play his natural game and run at players. I read somewhere that someone said that Craig looks disinterested in youth games. Well he has played only ONE game and did good in that, so why so much exaggeration when making statements. I just want to see him back his best and allowed to play his natural game. James Virgili is in the same situation. GVE will not give both of them a go for only reasons GVE has. But as I said earlier we are winning games at the moment. If Craig gets a go again and allowed to play his natural game we will see him shine again along with Virgili.

Is the problem though, that under GVE's new system Craig natural game does not fit any more? Goodwin was solid when he joined us but seemed to drop confidence after GVE pulled him to protect him from media attention.
We all want to see the lads do well, but if he can't get his natural game to match the new style then he's never going to get off of the bench.
We can't expect the team to change their style just to accommodate one player.

Also Jalians, Neville and Goodwin etc. What we hear and what really goes on are two different things. Craig just missed out on the Reading deal and the Socceroos experience he did well. But after that it seems to have stalled. WHY ?

Will Goodwin ever return? Hoole didn't have his best game against Victory but until Goodwin improves his attitude and work rate I am more than happy for him to keep starting ahead of Craig. What a dumb arse comment. Do you know him personally ? What would you know about what he does at training and off the park ?
I am good friend of his and if you knew him well you would find out there is nothing wrong with his attitude and work rate. He is training his arse off and waiting for his chance again. We have all seen what he is capable of. Maybe if you got to know him instead of commenting on other peoples lies you will change your mind.Maybe if you found out the truth a bit you might be surprised what you find out. The team is winning games at the moment so no point in making wholesale changes unlike last year. COYJ Nothing personal against Craig. Just my opinion, which unlike yours is completely objective.

So who do people think the new manager will be. I've so little faith in management that I think it will be a very underwhelming signing and turn out to be a dud. Personally i think we need a manager with a clear vision who has experience. I think realistically we don't have any local coaches who fit that role - excluding recycledcoaches who should not be given any more chances. Zane or Deans are not ready yet but should be given chance to develop under new management. The fans also need to be patient while this style is implemented but of course many of the jets fans want results at all costs rather than developing for the future. Look at adelaide at start of season compared to now.

I think they'll keep Zane on.
I quite like what he's doing with the team, and think he has what it takes eventually, but I'm a little worried about his power to entice players to transfer to us. We're not a major city, we're not a high profile club, we don't have ACL or success currently, and I just think we need a coach with a better CV to get players over - otherwise it'll just be young up-n-comers looking for first team football that will mostly want to come play for us.
The thought of losing all of Biraz, Taggz & Brillante scares me a little.

In Jan 2013 Gallaway signed a 2 year extension, which I assume sees him till the end of next season. In saying that, I consider him to be one of the worst HAL players going around currently. I have rated Carney more & more each game, I really hope we re-sign him. And in the middle of all that is Goodwin, somewhere.

I agree about zane and I think he will be in charge next season but I wouldn't mind an experienced assistant with him. Someone with strong links to Australian youth set up and a little overseas exposure

Any word on what has happened to Connor Chapman? he was playing at the first half of the season and all of a sudden we haven't heard from him in a long time? Injured? Discipline issue?
Rather weird.

Rather weird. Originally he was rested before the u22 thing in Jan so our team wouldn't feel the effects of losing him as bad for an entire month. But in his place, taylor regan performed exceptionally. And now Josh Mitchell is too.

Zenon Caravella is out for the remaining games of the season with a 4-6 week knee (medial ligament, I think) injury. No surgery required though, apparently.
I imagine either Kanta will start in the middle, or Brillante will be shuffled in there and someone else to play RB.

What is happening with the ownership issue up there? Looks like Tinkler will lose control of the Knights, but what happens to the Jets? I saw Ray Gatt on Twitter this morning saying that there's another consortium ready to go if Tinkler gives up control of the Jets. Anyone have any updates?

What you've posted is about as much as anyone knows currently. It's business as usual until we hear otherwise.
I'm very interested as to who the other interested party is, that are apparently ready to step in. I hope we find out who it is - whether it comes off or not.

Pardon the speech prefix, but-> Zoidberg: What's this? A letter from my good friend Bender. 'Dear Dr. Jerkberg, if you're reading this, I'm already dead! The person who killed me was ...was ...oh my god, the murderer, it was- Fry: (yawns) I'm bored. You're boring Zoidberg. I'm gonna go and watch TV.

You can rule out Petratos rumoured coming in, he signed a 2 year deal about a month ago.
Flores might be a good pick up for you guys though.

Is there any specific reason Chapman has not made it back into the side since November other than competition for places. Thought he was doing pretty well at the start of the season.

I highly rate him (even more than Curtis Good) and agree he was doing well. The below is about as far as anyone knows: pv4 wrote:Barca4Life wrote:Any word on what has happened to Connor Chapman? he was playing at the first half of the season and all of a sudden we haven't heard from him in a long time? But in his place, taylor regan performed exceptionally. And now Josh Mitchell is too. Basically I think he lost out his place because he was planned to be away, and just hasn't gotten it back. Also it seems Zane likes the older heads of Kew and Mitchell in the centre, so maybe he sees Chapman as too young. Not sure, it's a shame he's not playing week-in because he is such a talent.

Bridges has officially retired, starting at the end of this season (aka after Friday night, if he plays).
