Red Devils chase five on end at home
BALLARAT Red Devils will be looking to win five matches in a row at home for the first time in eight years when they take on Brunswick City in Football Federation Victoria state league two at Trekardo
Park today.
The run started in round eight in late May when the Haymes Red Devils defeated Werribee City 3-2.
This was followed by a 2-0 win over Geelong Rangers, a 4-0 thumping of Sydenham Park and last week's come-from-behind 3-2 victory against Altona East.
The Reds go into the match with an unchanged team and full of confidence.
New coach Michael Leslie has been able to settle on a squad which is doing the business.
"We are not worried about who the opposition has playing for them," he said.
"All we worry about is what we can control and that is the things we know we do well.
"Pressure, pace, we need to get stuck in and take our chances in front of goal," Leslie said.
"We are looking forward to the challenge that (fourth-placed) Brunswick brings.
"We haven't lost at home for almost two months. We're fit and ready to go."
Brunswick had a strong start to the season, but has faltered over the past month, dropping its past two matches.
Luke Armstrong, Tristan Romein and Leslie have been combining well at the back for the Reds.
In the middle, Sam Muscat and Josh Romein have had a top month and will be again looking to have a big say.
Up front, Paul McClounan has scored twice in his past three matches, while Sam Winch and Simon Murphy are also hungry for goals.
Ballarat can climb as high as seventh with a win today.
