Hey people this is the ACT's u/14 squad for the Nationals in Coffs Harbour September 28th until October 1st, one player to be omitted.

A.C.T. 1996 Boys Nationals Squad

Ben Jackson (GK)
Matt Stirton
Nicholas Matkovic
Alex Gelonesi
Johnno Cimminelli
Antonio Barbaro
Jordan Tsekenis
Jak Olim
Alex Popovich
Joshua Gaspari
Kieran Matress
Ryan Little
Nick Keir
Alex Moscatritolo
Alex Tilley
James Trevanion (GK)
Darian McGarry-Watson

Does anyone have squad lists from the the other teams competing? If so just just join the thread. BTW some good players in this squad. They did not do to well last year in the junior national championships, but I can assure you it will be different this time around. Much better coach and much better preparation.

Hey guys, I'll be there at Coffs Harbour for nationals watching my bro play in the 14's competition, can't wait!

Their team list will be finalised this week, but I have a fairly good idea of the 16 who will be going.

Until recently, I was thinking that we'd go very well at nationals, until our squad had been hit by a few injuries. Nevertheless, there is still a lot of talent in the team and hopefully the boys can show what they are capable of.

He's representing NNSW. He has told me that the squad will be finalised this week and I'll post the squad here when it's officially announced on the NNSW Football website.

Catching up sounds good. I always enjoy talking about football, especially competitions that my bro is involved in. Should be good.

Last year at the 13's nationals, to be honest, it was a bit of a disaster for us. We have some really good talent in our squad and I have my reasoning as to why things went so pear shaped. It was a real shame as we didn't see the best of the players over that week. So maybe this time, hopefully we can fly under the radar and catch some teams cold.

Do you know what teams are in which groups?

If you go to the Capital Football website, on the left hand side you will see a link (High Performance)then you will see football if you go into that you will find the complete draw for 14's and 15's.

The Act boys didn't go to well at the 13's championships last year here in Canberra either, thats why we are in group B and NNSW are in group A, although you guys only finished 1 place above us. Im sure you will see a different outcome this year in Coffs. They have been training the house down, playing against U/16 premier league teams and doing very well. I distinctly remember the game between the ACT boys and the NNSW boys during the championships last year. The NNSW boys got a penalty in the dying minutes for a handball offence and that was that.

Wish your brother a good tournament for me will you? Looking forward to catching up. BTW, to anyone else that wishes to catch up in Coffs, maybe we should just pm each other and try organise something.

I remember that game vs Capital Football quite well. Along with out 2-0 loss to NSW Metro (BTW, they reckon that it was us who gave them the toughest time last year) our 2-1 win over you guys was the best we played all week. Although it was a lucky way to win, I thought we deserved it over the balance of play of the whole match. It's a shame the team didn't put on more displays like that. It's a bit of a shame that we're not in the same groups.

Thanks for the groups/draw. Also, thanks for the good wishes for my bro. He's had a rough year, and he's super keen to right the wrongs of last year's nationals. Also super keen to earn a green and gold jersey, which I was told he just missed out on last time. It's a long story, so I'll explain it all to you in a few weeks. I wish your son and the Capital Football team all the best for these coming championships. :)

NNSW have finalised their 16, but they are generally pretty slow with posting rep squads on their websites. I know the 16, but don't want to go posting it everywhere in case I'm not actually supposed to do that. Hopefully early next week it will be up on the NNSW website.

The U/14's ACT squad have got some interesting lead up games before the Nationals. First up, tonight they play the local Championship winning Woden U/15's. On Saturday they play, hold onto your hats, the Asia cup winning Matilda's, then the following Wednesday they play the U/16 ACT Premier League, minor premiership winning Canberra FC ( formerly known as Croatia Deakin ). Now those teams are going to be really strong competition for the for the boys but im sure they will be up to it. Ill post the scores after each game.

Because the games at the Nationals will be played in 2 x 25 minute halves the game last night was played as 3 x 25 minute thirds to give everyone a decent run and to iron out any problems.

With this mind, last nights game against the championship winning U/15's team Woden Valley started off a little shaky in the first third. A mistake in the back third led to Woden taking the lead 1-0 in the 10th minute. Then 5 minutes later the ACT U/14 boys, through some slick passing and an unstoppable shot from just outside the box equalised to make it 1-1. In the second third ACT made some changes, although dominating in attack and the defensive line impenetrable the scoreline remained the same. The last third was all one way traffic with the ACT U/14 boys scoring 3 unanswered goals to finish the game with a 4-1 win.

Saturday morning the game against the Matilda's will be different kettle of fish.
