Not good enough for me. Are you serious. Do some study on other Marquee players for me. Jardel, Elrich, Thompson, Agistino. Why not have a Marquee player thats an absolute gem now rather than pick them up ten years after their prime. I think Joel is on par with Archie and his form this season was far more superior!! Only one player of note in your marquee player list......Jardel......he won the european golden boot in 2002 (that a massive thing). Comes here as a fat bastard (no pres-eason), plays a total of maybe 200 mins, what an absolute waste. Before you go on about how crap he was, yes i agree. just saying so was the coaching staff.

agreed that marquees are to old but they do show younger players the ropes and new ideas. Otherwise we would be left with Arnold and Kossi showing all their ideas, which is one. I think marquee player should come in as player/assitants

The bar isn't set very high for marquees, Archie and Moore are the only ones who were worth the spot, and Juninho was benched or injured too often (not to criticise him, I would love to see him back next season to have a better go at it).
Griffo would shit over 4 of the other 7 marquees in terms of resiliance against injury, ability, fitness, and leadership. Why not sign him? Agreed, most of the marquees are old too.

After the season he has had, its no wonder they have made him their marquee player. I thought that they were going to bring in Ahmad Elrich as the marquee player though.

He has been and gone (short stint at Leeds) - but i get the feeling he enjoys the lifestyle here. If he keeps getting the op to represent Australia, and the marquee deal works out, he will stay.

Joel Griffiths keep's growing and growing. I think at some stage in the next few seasons he will go abroad. I have this gut feeling maybe to Holland? I guess only time will tell, but will be good for the A-League if he stayed.

Anyone that can read and hasn't been living in a cave the last couple of weeks was aware of this one. It was in every major paper on Sunday.

If Griffiths didn't get injured, he probably would have made the squad.

Gee they would wanna offer him something big because I can imagine many European CLubs would be after his signature. I'm sure he would be looking overseas after the A League players got snubbed from the Socceroos squad agian. I personally hope the Jets offer Jardel another contract.....haha What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Joel Griffiths to be the Jets marquee player from 2008-09 [RUMOUR]? Have your say.
