Great win in trying conditions... photos from the game available at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/defuzz

What do you think about the FourFourTwo article South Seals Sunshine’s Fate?
SOUTH Melbourne outclassed a lacklustre Sunshine George Cross 4-0 to secure fifth spot in wet conditions, sending the Georgies crashing back to State League One.

Have your say.

Sunshine GC have struggled for years.

Maybe a merger with Green Gully will strengthen the club again:)

Its sad to see them fall down again though.

Sad to see a club that has given us Kevin Muscat, Paul Trimboli, Damien Mori, John Markovski, Andrew Marth and Lorenz Kidnter be relegated to the second division. But I am sure they'll be back up. Perhaps a merger of state league clubs throughout Australia should occur in preparation one day for a national second and third division?

Agree 893822: in fact the whole A-League should be joined with sate league clubs and one day build a better state league. Use struggling junior clubs to build u16 u14 u12 clubs ect to turn them inyojunior clubs of the A-League junior clubs like mvfc u14 u16 ect

It sure is sad to see.

I wait for the day that clubs merge based on regional, not ethnic lines. Imagine a Maltese backed club merging with a Greek, Italian or Croatian one. It would diversify things, changing the mindset of those in the area. A Melbourne Knights/Sunshing GC merger?:) They are half way there, as they use the same stadium.. Who knows.

Frankly though, many of these clubs are extremely proud of their history, which is based on their individual ethnic based founding, so its hard to see becoming widespread.
