We've just signed Tim Tebow as back up to Brady. Oh god, if something happens to Tom...

From a fan's perspective, it's horrible.

But for Tebow it's the best move possible. Brady's got maybe 3-4 years left in him, he's already starting to lose arm strength. If Brady has one bad game you're not going to have people going "START TEBOW!" like he had in New York which gives him a chance to ride the pine and learn behind one of the all-time great QB's and better develop his throwing action. Which will in turn give the Pats a ready made replacement for Brady.

Not sure I understand the Tebow hate, didn't he take Denver to the playoffs? Why does everyone act like they pulled some guy off the street and put pads on him? He was a winner in college and won in the NFL.
Not saying I want him to backup Rodgers, but I bet my left one the Patriots know exactly what they are going to do with him.

Isnt Tebow 3rd choice anyway? Thought the Pats had Mallett as backup? As for Cortlands prediction:

I think part of the problem is the amount of attention he garners from his controversial personality.

His record as a starter is 9-7 and yeah, he got Denver to the play-offs in 2011 but he had a great receiving corps. His pass completion percentage in that time was 45.5% which is terrible. In the 6 consecutive wins that got them into the '11 playoffs he only threw 7 TD's FFS.

See, here's where I think he's more than the sum of his stats. He was still a big part of their wins, TD passes or not. They were a run first team anyway and he played the option very well.
Either way, to me there are worse QB's than him with NFL contracts.

Of course there are worse QB's than him with NFL contracts, but few if any of them are starting. He's not a starter.

Aaron Hernandez charged with murder. Has been released by the Patriots. Massive loss for us, especially with Gronkowski not fit. Having said that, looks like he's guilty sadly.

NFL.com have finished unveiling the players' top 100. The top 10 went thus:
10. Patrick Willis (O)
9. Von Miller (-)
8. Arian Foster (-)
7. Aldon Smith (O)
6. Aaron Rodgers (U)
5. JJ Watt (-)
4. Tom Brady (-)
3. Calvin Johnson (-)
2. Peyton Manning (O)
1. Adrian Peterson (-)

I can't believe Matthews only came in at 31.

The New England Patriots are offering anyone with an Aaron Hernandez jersey the opportunity to exchange it for a free jersey of comparable value, the team announced.

Earlier this week, Hernandez was charged in the murder of an acquaintance and released by the Patriots.

"We know that children love wearing their Patriots jerseys but may not understand why parents don't want them wearing their Hernandez jerseys anymore," Patriots spokesman Stacey James said in a statement. "We hope this opportunity to exchange those jerseys at the Patriots Pro Shop for another player's jersey will be well received by parents."

I hate the Pats...but that's a quality gesture. Props, Pats marketing department.

This whole Hernandez thing has let Mark Sanchez comparatively slip under the radar

Mad props to lienbacker Brian Banks. He's won himself a provisional contract at Atlanta and made his debut for the Falcons tonight. Such a great story.

Granted it's only pre-season but there have been some strong performances early.
Baltimore absolutely raped the Bucaneers.
Cincinnati strolled against the Falcons. Bengals are going to be strong this year.
Cleveland rolled the Rams.
Washington were terrible against the Titans.
And Niners and Broncos scored 16 points between them in the most boring pre-season game of all time.

CJ could have a big year now that the Titans actually have some bulk to the O-line. Pity they're relying on Locker to make plays.

So glad the packers picked up Vince Young, Graham Harrell is absolutely awful. The packers got into the red zone just once this morning and were shut out. What was he thinking throwing underneath to Jeremy Ross with Patrick Peterson marking him? #-o

Pats go down to a Megatron-less Detroit by 31 points. That's embarrassing.

In other good news for the Pats, Aaron Hernandez has been indicted on one count of first degree murder.

Cuts coming up this weekend. Should be some interesting moves.

Aussies Brad Wing and Hayden Smith have been cut. Jesse Williams has been put on IR by the Seahawks (Which is incredibly rare for a 4th round draft pick).

Still not sure why the Bills cut him.

Speaking of which, final cuts are tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing which 'big' names don't make it. And especially how the Packers backfield pans out.
