Clement Grenier has confirmed that we had a bid for him rejected by Lyon and has said he will make a decision on his future in the next few days.

Never really had a top class keeper to learn off, nor the first team exposure to develop as a number 1 at arsenal. Wouldn't be surprised to see him take off at Sunderland.

Yeah good luck to him, and if it's true we got something like 2-3m for him and if these rumours are true and we bring in Julio Cesar for 1.5m that is some great fucking business.
It's either that or Martinez is promoted to the first team.

Higuain's dad has been quoted as saying that we have been given permission by Real to speak to the striker.

Now linked with Suarez WTF??? Geez I hate transfer windows, idiots writing baseless crap that I just can't help but read :x LUIS SUAREZ was last night linked with a sensational move to Arsenal. Bookies stopped taking bets on the £25million-rated Liverpool striker quitting Anfield for the Emirates. The controversial hitman had been strongly tipped to join Real Madrid. And it was a series of massive bets in Spain — with the Gunners as his destination — which forced William Hill to close their market. Spokesman Rupert Adams said: “It would suggest they have heard something substantial Read more: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4996205/Luis-Suarez-linked-with-a-sensational-move-to-Arsenal.html#ixzz2Y2Fhs2LP

Sonogo has been announced last few days, so i think from now onwards will the actual transfer business be done. Edited by beersandwich: 4/7/2013 11:36:19 AM

We've got like 8 days until we leave for our Asian tour, if something doesn't happen before then I think then maybe we can start to worry a little bit.

I'm with Vaughn. The Confed cup doesn't mean much when Higuain wasn't competing at it. And players/staff on holidays doesn't mean much with today's technology. I think the newspapers are chasing ghosts.
Also lol @ Suarez story.

For the record, he'll be announced next Week sometime, when out kits are launched. I dunno, there seems to be nothing from Real, nothing from Arsenal and nothing from Higuain himself. Makes you question how serious all of the hype is. If it isn't sorted in the next week or so, it won't happen.

Arsenal never really talk too much about transfers and Madrid are probably concentrating more on who they are going to buy.

Also saw this at the end of the interview: "We haven't spoken about the contract yet. Arsenal have made a great offer, in the same way as Juventus."
Surely Juve aren't still interested? :s

Surely Juve aren't still interested? :s Yeah saw that. That's an old quote from a few weeks ago, not sure why it's in there. Juve's interest ended once they got Tevez.

You especially very very rarely ever hear anything from Arsenal until it's done. Sid Lowe now reporting that Higuain apparently hopes to fly to London as early as tonight to complete the move http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/jul/04/gonzalo-higuain-arsenal-deal-close

If Sid Lowe is sure about it, then it's probably done. Hopefully it doesn't take as long as Cazorla took to be announced though. afromanGT wrote:sydneycroatia58 wrote:imnofreak wrote:sydneycroatia58 wrote:This is how Arsenal do transfers, you hear hardly anything until it's actually done. I read a few weeks ago on some forum that some people thought Higuain had lost some of his pace since his injury a year or two ago and is therefore no longer quite as good as before. Any truth to this?

Any truth to this? There is an element of truth as his stats are not quite as they were in the 09-10 season but he's still a deadly striker that will score more readily than some of the other guys we have on the service they get... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gonzalo_Higua%C3%ADn

Any truth to this? Any pace he might have lost doesn't seem to have hurt him that much. 16 goals in 28 league games last season and 22 in 35 the season before. Anyone who seriously worries about a supposed lack of pace plays too much FIFA and FM.

Do I dare believe? :-k
ARSENAL last night smashed their transfer record when they agreed a £23million fee for Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain. The Argentine will undergo a Gunners medical today and is expected to sign a three-year £100,000-a-week deal. Higuain, 25, has been given permission by Madrid to fly to London following weeks of negotiations. And boss Arsene Wenger has made it clear he wants the powerful goalscorer on board when Arsenal head for their tour of the Far East next Thursday. The deal, which has been confirmed by the player’s father Jorge, comes as a huge relief for Wenger, who had promised Arsenal fans to spend serious money this summer after eight years without winning a trophy. The Gunners’ previous biggest signing was the £16.5million they paid to sign Santi Cazorla from Malaga last summer and propels the club back into the big time. Now Wenger wants to build on Higuain’s imminent arrival by pressing ahead with negotiations for Wayne Rooney and Julio Cesar. Rooney is still weighing up his future at Manchester United but would demand in excess of £200,000 a week. Brazilian keeper Cesar, who has a £90,000-a-week contract at QPR, will be allowed to leave Loftus Road as a free agent just to get him off the wage bill. The ex-Inter Milan keeper, 33, wants to stay in London despite interest from Barcelona. And Wenger believes that the capture of Higuain will convince other world-class stars to join.

I can tell from the wording that's either The Sun, The Mirror or The Mail. In which case, it may as well have been written by me for all the validity it has.
