Barca Prez claim they are paying £25.5 plus 8.5 in bonuses 34 total... Hmmm I doubt it

fee looks like this apparently

"Barcelona were on Sunday claiming they will only have to pay €14.5 million up front, with a further €14.5 million to be paid in October. It is then understood that €1 million will be released for each year of a contract that lasts until 2016.
Providing Fàbregas wins one European Cup and two La Liga titles over the next five years, Arsenal will receive a further €6 million. This takes the potential overall fee to €40 million (£35 million)"

That's the one what was always touted. Versions had Fabregas paying out of his salary, or at least giving up his bonuses. I don't know.

most blogs and news papers say arsene had 20-30 mil before sales to buy players.

add 20 mil for nasri and 30 mil for cesc (give or take few mil) and thats at least 70,000,000.
considering he almost splashed the cash for alonso a few years back, i kinda have a small glimmer of hope he will buy an established prem star. otherwise hes wasting arsenals money.

Have to say good luck to him. As much as I hate the guy he was excellent at Arsenal and will be missed.

I feel for Arsenal fans, it hurts. But losing one player doesn't matter if the team sticks together. United lost Ronaldo in almost the same circumstances, found it a little tricky the following year but have not looked back since.

Have to agree with this. As hard as it is losing a player like Cesc the club will move on and the fans have to as well. It's not like we've not lost big players before.

That being said it does feel a bit different with Cesc than it felt with Henry and Viera.

Has the nerve to tweet about the fans singing disrespectful songs on the weekend. After the way he's treated the club for nearly a year he has absolutely no fucking right to call anyone disrespecteful.

What we've seen today once again is the vast vast vast difference in class between Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri. Cesc has it, Nasri most certainly does not.

Arsenal won 64% of their games with Fabregas in their Starting XI last season, vs 31% without him.

And I suspect that stat wouldn't have been much different with Henry and we went close to winning the league the season after we sold him when everyone said we'd be dropping out of the top 4. Rings a bell doesn't it.

People wrote us off after we sold Viera, we made the Champions League Final the next season. They wrote us off after we sold Henry, and as I said we went close the next season. Just when everyone writes us and Arsene off, we spring a surprise.

Henry had Van Persie to step up into his role. Vieira had Gilberto and Flamini who stepped in after him. There's no logical replacement to Fabregas.

Viera was actually replaced by Cesc  Fabregas was the reason Wenger felt he could sell Viera when he did, and he was proven right.

You're right, there is no logical replacement to Cesc, but that's not really our fault tbph. It's more a testament to how good he really is, and how almost impossible he is to replace.

I guess that's why they were Arsenal's first choice midfield pairing for most of the 05/06 season.

:-s

Cesc made 35 appearences in the league that season, and only 5 of those off the bench. 13 appearences in Europe with 3 of those off the bench.

Cesc and Gilberto was our first choice midfield pairing that season.

Flamini spent most of the 05/06 season at fullback.

Save up for a few years, come back offering 200 million claiming Barca kidknapped Cesc anyone? :p

Hopefully some of that class Cesc possesses rubs off on his new teamates.

I said this a while ago when it started.

What kind of loyalty-less fucker asks for a payrise he doesn't really deserves and then stamps his feet because he doesn't get what he wants.

A payrise is earnt, if Arsenal thought he deserved it he would get it but obviously they didn't, so it was up to Samir to prove his worth. Instead he had a tantrum.

All i'll say to City is goodluck with this little shit, maybe Balotelli will have a partner in crime?

Jack Wilshere + Aaron Ramsey
End debate.

We still need an extra midfielder for cover though.

Nasri, fuck off! We've got that Japanese kid now, no need for Nasri.

Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey aren't ready to dictate a game. It's not even fair to place that expectation on them. Arsene knows they're not ready to fill that void and he never intended for them to be at this stage. We need an established, experienced and commanding player who can spot a pass from a mile away and execute it with accuracy. We need a player that is able to control the pace of the game.

As for Ryo and AOC, I'm not doubting their potential, but we need an experienced player to replace Nasri who can jump straight in and start producing results.

If we do not bring in established and experienced players and instead rely on the likes of Wilshere, Ramsey, AOC, Ryo, Jenkinson, Traore, Gibbs etc. then by May we will be hearing the same things we have been for years now. "The team is young. They showed mental strength but were lacking a little bit in sharpness. They will learn from this and come back stronger."

The thing is the worst part is not him actually asking for the pay rise. It's the fact that in October we offered him a contract, he indicated he would sign and then City came in and he strung us along for months without knowing what was going on.

Also doesn't help us that his agent hates Wenger.
