Your personal distaste of the Sun should not inhibit the source of content of what other people are allowed to post.

Who cares whats new - print media especially from the ol Dart is the worst on the planet why would you bother. Next match should be on the agenda here - its going to be BIG so looking forward to it and Luis back !! < there you go fellas did my own spell check ;) Wonder what the starting line up ends up being. Need to close down little Modric.

Very true. Such a difficult game to select a team for.
Firstly, I think Jay must play. Modric and VDV (if he plays) are big threats so we need Jay in the middle IMO. The other two midfield spots should be taken by Hendo and Gerrard. Adam unlucky to sit it out.
Up front.... so bloody tough. I want Kuyt at RW to help counter the threat of Bale. Bellamy must also start. So the final spot is Luis or Andy. I just don't know. If we leave Luis on the bench, if the game is tight, when we see him warming up on the touchline with 30 to go... the entire team/crowd will lift. I don't know what kind of fitness he has either. So maybe Andy should start. But if he doesn't it's no big deal.
Very tough game this one. Feburary is huge. League v United, Spurs and Arsenal, the CC Final and FA Cup R5. Huge.

Yes imno the next 5 league games are important to gain as many points as poss, naturally some results make go our way but your never to rely on that. Throw in the CC Final lets hope key players stay on the pitch. Yep Jay for the defensive spoiler I can go with that. SG god love him my concern is lack of pace do we start with him or play Adam ? Is Stevie better to come on once the opposition tires a little and cause the damage with 30 to go. Sure is hard to decide up front - my heart says the never say die man Kuyt as you have, won't let you down as we know BUT it sure would throw a spanner in the works for arry if he sees it will be Luis and Bellers !! This is my choice regardless the ?? of Luis's fitness, come on he's been training and know nothing beats match fitness but he will be chomping at the bit to be on the park he'll run riot imo and spurs sure wouldn't like seeing him on at KO. I'd replace him with Kuyt 3/4's through 2nd half damage would have been done lets lock up shop :)

Then it's up to them to choose not to read it, not up to imno to make that choice for them. In an interview last night Dalglish seemed to suggest that Gerrard would be starting but not Suarez. IT's a tough call to make. Is an out-of-form Carroll better than a Luis Suarez who hasn't been in the team in the last 8 games and will be out of match practice? I think so. --------Carroll-------- Bellers-------------Kuyt ------Hendo--Stevie----- ---------Spearing------- Enrique-Skrtel-Agger-Johnson

I like that team.
Also, little thing that always irks me, when people put Agger as DCR instead of DCL. HE always plays on the left :P

Against teams that are likely to play one striker, he'd be better on DCR than DCL, that way both he and Skrtel have their preferred tackling foot 'in the middle' as they face the oncoming striker.

my dream line-up v spurs
---------------reina------------- Kelly----Skrtel-----Agger----Enrique --------Gerrard---Spearing-------- Kuyt----------Suarez-------bellamy --------------Carroll-------------
I'd have Johnson on the bench because he likes to get forward, which would leave space for Bale to attack. Kelly is a traditional left back and is focused on his defensive duties. I've got spearing over adam/hendo simply because of the fact that he'll get stuck in and defend, allowing gerrard to get forward when needed.

I like that line up too. I considered it but I really don't want to leave out Hendo.
Afro - I wouldn't change anything about our CB pairing. On fire atm.

Imno and I were discussing whether or not Kelly was the way to go at RB the other day too. A 'flat' (-er) back four would be ideal against Spurs away...but at home is it too defensive? Bale aside, his effectiveness will be somewhat stunted if you can take Lennon out of the game with Enrique.
Bigger problem is Modric and VDV.

Bigger problem is Modric and VDV. VDV is a doubt to play, has a hamstring injury I think. Saha may play alone up front (due to lack of fit attackers) and Kranjcar could play pivot in behind.

Big game like this, I'd expect them to risk VDV.

Defoe I think is definitely out, Adebayor is similar to Rafa and Walker, King and Lennon should be fit. I think we will line up something like this: Freidel Walker Kaboul King Assou-Ekotto Lennon Modric Parker Bale Kranjcar/VDV/Adebayor Saha

Oh well we had our chances to take it thats for sure compared to spurs 1 most of the 2nd half. Can't stand the play acting from the modern day footballer you know which one especially I mean. Pepe great save by the way ! Everyone played for the shirt today - even Johnson I don't think an error. The tall and the short of it - hows the restart seeing Bellers and Abahayor (sp check) having a yarn and how pound for pound Bellers is far more value imo. Oh Carroll you freak me out - why haven't you learnt to use your right foot - you had the bottom left open for the goal :( Luis great to have you back and what a first up hussle !! and what impact straight away going to be good next week ! The talk of them being title contenders is over rated - should make the 4. Edited by M.L.: 7/2/2012 09:09:04 AM

Spot on with the Kelly/Kuyt call
Bit of a disappointment when the main talking point in a game is a cat running across the pitch.

Spearing made a couple of fine tackles and did a decent job screening the defence, but deary me he must improve his distribution. I think Kenny's tactics worked well today, it's not often that Spurs are kept toothless in attack. I can't recall them having a decent chance besides the Gareth Bale one on one.
Carroll had a decent game, just wish he knew how to use his right foot. He blazed that one chance over the bar but I thought his movement and pressing as well as his hold-up play were quite good today.
Happy with the game today, we dominated for large peroids without really creating much. Still to keep Spurs goal-less is a fine achievement. The team's performance was solid, albiet lacking a bit of creativity.
