Another dud transfer. Another hopeless waste of money. And another huge loss.

Not a huge loss tbh. I think all parties will be happy - should free up some wages for you guys.

Probably beefs up the Joe Allen situation now though.

We paid 20m for him, we sold him for 5m. 15m is a HUGE loss.

Yep, so there is a financial loss to it - but considering his time at the club, losing Aqua isn't a massive loss to the team.

If that is the criteria than he is not a loss at all because for someone brought into replace Xabi he ended up making no impact.

Wut? He was brought in to replace Xabi Alonso and the loss we took on him was more than the profit we made off Alonso!

What i'm saying is he barely played and was loaned out twice, so losing him will make no impact what so ever on the current team because he was never really part of the team in the first place..

Also didn't we make 20m profit off of Alonso? We didn't lose that much with Aqua..

In terms of squad impact, there will be little to none. And we're saving a fortune in his wages.

But we allegedly signed Alonso for 13m and sold him for 30m. We signed Aquilani for 20m and sold him for 5m. Selling a star player and then burning the profit on a player who doesn't last at the club and barely breaks the first team is no way to run business.

It's nice to see that even Brendan Rogers is telling Suarez to let shit go.

Obviously it was in no way a good deal because we lost a bunch of money on a player who in the end made no impact, but even looking back now it was the right thing to do(trying to replace Xabi) Rafa just picked the wrong player at the wrong price..

Brendan Rodgers didn't have much choice this year either, his only options were to keep the player who he clearly didn't deem good enough/suitable or sell him for a small fee and get him off the wage bill. Either way you can't really blame him or FSG for getting rid because they can't sit around and dwell on a fee that they didn't even pay for the player.

Anyhow none of this really matters now, what does matter is that three years later we still haven't gotten close to replacing Xabi.

Seems the Liverpool Echo are all but confirming Bellamy's departure with this article - http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-fc/lfc-player-profiles/andy-carroll/2012/08/07/analysis-craig-bellamy-waves-a-fond-goodbye-to-liverpool-fc-100252-31565251/2/

I honestly hadn't thought he would move until just now when i was reading this. It's a shame and i can't really see him wanting to leave simply because he wants to be in Cardiff so i would assume its has something to do with a Dempsey like signing being all but confirmed in house.

On the plus side we must have around 300k more a week to spend on player wages when compared to a couple of months back, that kind of excess wage should cover a double swoop for Sahin and Affellay.

Sahin + Affellay vs Kuyt + Maxi + Bellamy...

If Rodgers sells Agger & replaces him with Williams from Swansea it will take him a very long time to regain my faith. Agger is one of the best CBs in the world IMO & in our current position will be IMPOSSIBLE to replace. Really, really, really hope he stays

I agree, i can understand him selling him so he can spend the money in other areas, but if he than goes onto buy Williams when we have three CB's (Carra/Coates/Kelly) who are all at a similar level than i will seriously doubt his ability as a manager.

I can understand selling Agger.. IF we get 20+. With his injury record he's one bad tackle away from being worth nothing to us... if we got 20+ and got Howedes or Sakho or something for 10-12 then i'd be happy... but if we signed Williams with the money I'd be disappointed.

Bellamy, Kuyt, Aquilani, Maxi out... that's a LOT of wages freed up. I expect 3-4 signings to come in now.

Tbf Allen is British which of course adds about 10-15m to any price, and we got lucky with Cazorla because of the fact Malaga had to sell him with the situation they're in. They weren't on the brink of financial ruin he would've been going for a much higher price.

I was thinking this would be a terrible move but if they could get a good deal on Howedes I would see that as good business. Knowing Liverpool though they will overpay for some British player.

Saw an article saying Laudrup thinks Allen is worth 25Mill to Liverpool, that has to scare them off surely.

Liverpools transfer policy seems to be some kind of joke but if England or one of the other Great Britain nations does well in a future tournament they will have to thank Liverpool as they seem to be trying to get British players into a top team no matter what

haha RedKat :D

I agree imno, but we both know we won't sign Howedes or someone of that calibre.. We'll sign Williams or a british CB half the player Agger is. Instead if taking that gamble I'd prefer to keep Agger. Not only is he world class but he's passionate about the club and always gives his all for the red shirt - something money can't buy.

Has he actually signed a new contract? Becuase there's nothing on the clubs site or on their twitter anywhere as far as I can see. A lot of confusion about this whole thing.

(unnofficial fan site) Luis Suarez has put pen to paper on a new contract with Liverpool Football Club. This new, long-term contract will see the Uruguayan extend his stay at Anfield past 2016.

A report on the club’s official channel, LFCTV, appeared confirming that Luis Suarez has signed a new deal with the club. Interestingly, this was quickly removed as the official announcement is to be made much later.

Not sure what's going on with Suarez thing, but I'm pretty confident he's signed. They may be holding on to the announcement until they wrap something else up and do them both together.

Marca has us linked with Sahin... they're usually accurate enough when it comes to Real. I sure hope we get him.

Luis Suarez has signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool, ESPN can confirm.
The Uruguayan has scored 21 goals in 52 games since joining from Ajax for £22 million in January 2011 and is viewed as one of the most dangerous forwards in the Premier League.

Juve were ready to pounce for the 25-year-old after being rebuffed in their attempts to sign Robin van Persie from Arsenal, but Liverpool have beaten them to the punch with what is believed to be a four-year deal though to 2016.

Liverpool's own TV channel accidentally broadcast the news that Suarez had signed a new deal prematurely, but ESPN can confirm that a new deal has been thrashed out following his involvement at the Olympics.

The forward is expected to be a cornerstone of Brendan Rodgers' new-look Liverpool team, and ESPN can also confirm that the club are continuing their hunt to sign £15 million-rated Joe Allen from Swansea.

I know he is only one player, but with him being linked with three of the main contenders for 4th he could well be a deciding factor. He would drastically improve Liverpool, be an improvement over Arteta and would be a good replacement for Modric at Tottenham.

On paper he would immediately turn either Arsenal or Liverpool's midfield's into probably the best in the league (hard to compare with cities but probably on par).

Thread started confirming Luis's signing =d> \:d/ below the press release :

Suarez Signs New Anfield Deal

Luis Suarez has signed a new long-term contract at Liverpool to end speculation about his immediate future.

Suarez is glad to be back at Liverpool after his Olympic Games campaign with Uruguay and wants to impress from the start of the 2012/13 campaign.

The former Ajax man celebrated his return by penning a new long-term contract on Tuesday to end speculation linking him with a move away from Anfield.

The striker will now return to first-team training and could feature in Liverpool’s Europa League second leg against FC Gomel.

Suarez told the club’s official website: "I'm happy to be back. Training is going fine. It had been a long time since I'd last seen the boys and the people who work at Melwood, so it's been great to do that in the last few days.

"I am happy because I have come back and I am training for the start of the next match.

"I am fit and I can play (on Thursday), but it's not my decision - you'll have to ask the manager!"

Suarez also has managed to meet new Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers for the first time on Monday, and says he has been impressed with what the former Swansea City boss brings to Anfield.

"He is a good person,” he said.

“I spoke with him last week and he spoke fantastic to me. We know what he wants - he wants us to play with the ball all of the time and it's very important. We try our best in training and we hope to do so in the matches, also.

"He wants us to play with the ball all of the time. He tells us he wants 70-minute or 90-minute concentration all of the time in training. This is very important.

"I am enjoying training and happy with it. It's important for players to play with the ball all of the time - and with the manager that's what we're trying.

"I think he is a good manager and I was impressed with the work he did with Swansea last season. We played them twice and they tried to take the ball from us in good positions with lots of pressure.

"I think Brendan will try the same with Liverpool and we will all try to do our best."

Speaking on Liverpool's official website, Rodgers said: "I'm delighted that he has signed. I think he's one of the top strikers in world football.

"Hopefully, he was able to see our vision going forward, in terms of what we're trying to do.

"I think he felt safe and secure at the fact that we look like we are heading in the right direction and he's very happy to come with me on that journey - which I'm delighted about."

Borini - Carroll - Suarez

More likely. Depending on who we sign. Maybe Downing in there.

I have a very strong feeling that we'll sign Ramirez & Allen, and that this will be BR's preferred XI. Carroll, Downing and Hendo to fight for places and hopefully Sterling and Suso make an appearance or two this season :D

I don't know whether Borini will be leading the line for us... he played RW mostly for Roma last year.

And the only reason you don't like my lineup is because it has Big Andy in it ;) Have faith. He'll be beast.

We've bid 15m for Allen apparently which triggers some clause (again, apparently).I wouldn't mind for 15. He and Lucas will be a brilliant partnership.

And also, Telegraph reporting we're looking at a Dempsey/Adam swap with Fulham, and still looking at Adam Johnson from City, irrespective of whether Agger goes there.

And I think we'll sign Tello. He wasn't given a squad number and is being allowed to leave. I'd love us to pick him up on loan as has been reported.

How confident are you on keeping Agger, if you do that's looking pretty good to probably fight for 4th
