M.L. wrote:Well thats what we need more depth. Aspas is a waste surely he'll be offloaded, Lambert would be farfar more effective. He's contracted until 2018 so we can loan him out back to La Liga for a season to find some form. Then we can maximize his asking price.

So Lambert to be confirmed tomorrow. Very happy with it.
By the sounds of it Moreno coming in too. Definitely needed a new left back and he sounds like he's got the good! Can't say I've seen him much though.
Besides those two I've seen us linked with Can, Fabregas, Lovren, Lallana obviously, Vorm, Sanchez... the least likely on that list is Fabregas but I could see any of the rest coming in. Going to be an exciting summer :)

Prett happy with 4m for Lambert but this 25m rumoured pirce tag for Lallana makes me uneasy.
Moreno will give us something extra. There's a lot of excitement about him in Spain. Not sold on the kind of price tag they're talking though.
Lovren is a must have and Cesc would be a dream come true.
Bring in another attacking wide player and that's almost the next 2 years of shopping done.

I don't think 25mil for Lallana is too bad. We've all seen his quality and I'm sure he will produce at the World Cup. Someone like emre can is a good second option - a lot cheaper and potential to be top quality.

25 is fine and it seems to be our final bid. Makes it our 'marquee' signing - I rate him very highly and I'd say he's got his best 3-4 years ahead of him to be honest.
Can will be a good signing too if he comes in.
I reckon about 6pm tonight our time Lambert will be announced

Liverpool confirm transfer of Rickie Lambert from Southampton June 2, 2014 - 8:48PM Liverpool have confirmed the transfer of striker Rickie Lambert from Southampton, the Premier League club announced on Monday. The 32-year-old, currently with the England team in Miami preparing for the World Cup, scored 13 league goals for the Saints last term as the south coast side ended their campaign with a club-record 56 points. "I can't believe it. I've loved this club all my life. I left here 17 years ago - and I haven't stopped loving it since," Lambert said on the club website (www.liverpoolfc.com). "I have always dreamt of playing for Liverpool, but I did kind of think the chance of playing for them had gone. I didn't think the chance would come." No transfer fee was stated but British media had reported Lambert, a boyhood Liverpool fan who spent his youth career at the club, was expected to cost around four million pounds ($6.71 million). 4-5m is a great price for Lambert, even considering his age. It's nice that he's a former youth player too, good story all round. Top signing by Pool here IMO.

Won't count the chickens till they've hatched Vaughn. Sure would like seeing Lovren in the backline though.

Get a grip you lot. Lambert has been a very good player for the Saints, but J.Rod showed him up last season. = slow Lallana cant even Finish a game out.= the most sub player in the EPL for 2013/2014 Lovren is happy at Southampton. = the guy who scored the goal at Anfield that cost you the title

I reckon about 6pm tonight our time Lambert will be announced I'd say valuing him above 20 is a stretch. He had a decent 2012-13, but he's only had one truly strong season and paying 25m for him is once again succumbing to the 'english player tax' (much like we did with Carroll but to a lesser extent) and being swept up in the hysteria of any pommy player who shows a modicum of talent. Don't get me wrong he's a good player who would be a handy acquisition for most sides, especially one trying to add depth for European football, but I don't think 25m is a reasonable price tag. Unless he has a blinder of a World Cup. I'm also not sure how to feel about the fact that after missing out on the title by the skin of our teeth, and in preparation for Champions League football next season the players we're having the strongest links to play for the team that finished 8th. There's no reason not to believe that RB, JH et al aren't taking the team in an upwards direction, but it kind of goes against the grain when looking to make improvements.

Good points afro. I had thoughts earlier on that to be competitive for next season especially EU we need to buy 1-2 proven experienced players who have been playing CL....... As much faith as we have with BR getting the guys prepared nothing beats having experience and that we are lacking especially the backline !

"Likes to play long balls" - well that doesn't work for our style of play.
Also how can they list his tackling as a strong point and then say he fouls often.

Works for Gerrard. Slightly different position champ. Ahh so only the DM is capable of playing long balls. Anyone ahead of him cannot attempt a long pass ever. Got ya. On Can, quality player. From the little I've seen of him when watching Kruse play he's a lot like Nuri Sahin except more mobile. Will be a good signing and could definitely challenge Henderson for a first team place. Sounds like the Can deal is wrapped up now. Happy with that. More contest for CM with Hendo, Allen, Can, Lucas fighting for 2 spots.
