He's been at Blackpool since '09 and has been central to everything they've done. He's stepped up to the EPL level very well.

I suggested a new midfielder because in my opinion theres no point having 2 world class strikers when you struggle to get them the ball. Gerrard i think makes the other two you have look better than they are. When Gerrard is out you seem to struggle a little more.

Gerrard and Meireles in midfield are class together IMO. I don't think that area needs as much work as finding a full-back or second striker. That can wait until the end of the season.

Every club has their off periods. Sometimes it takes nostalgia to get through it. If you don't remember the good times the bad times are even more depressive.

I'd definitely be looking at a striker. But I think a consistent full-back is more pressing than another midfielder. Meireles, Gerrard and Lucas are doing an ok job. And if we really wanted to we could play Agger in Masch's old role (sounds crazy, but think about it for a bit and it might work...). Throw whatever it takes at Bayern to get Lahm off them and pick up a decend striker (looking at Benzema or Suarez) and things are looking half decent. They're linked with any footballer with a pulse. Adams has been very good for Blackpool this season. Take him over Poulsen any day of the week tbh.

He was sacked by Newcastle, but Shepherd was a crazy SOB.

What happened at Celtic was complicated, but I wouldn't say he was 'sacked'. He was only really a caretaker there anyway and went back to his role as 'director of football' after O'Neill was hired.

Really, the only place that outright sacked him was Newcastle.

Kenny for Ruud G ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

To be fair, I think there were several names that could have replaced Hodgson at the club. The board went with Dalglish to restore faith with the fans in what has been one of the most turbulent times in the clubs illustrious history. It's more a move of business sense and a showing of good faith than it is about any tactical genius.

Moreover, Dalglish is one of the most successful names ever to be involved with the game. His resume is almost incomperable and the board were perhaps a little naive in disregarding him at the start of the season in preference to the 'bargain' approach of hiring Hodgson.

That isn't a good thing.

Everyone just enjoys trashing Liverpool when we can because we are reminded that you are the most succesful club constantly by certain sections of your fans. I don't think anyone other than seriously would enjoy/want you relegated.

United fans would be quick to point out that we're "not" anymore.

I don't think Dalglish's job is safe. But the wrath incurred from fans for 'sacking' him, as opposed to replacing him with a big name and returning him to his previous role as a director would not be worth the trouble it would cause with fans for NESV.

They should be lined up and shot for what they did to Liverpool.

Not to mention running Texas Rangers into the ground before they were rescued by Jon Daniels. Looks like he's runninng the Dallas Stars into the ground too. There should be criminal charges for people like him. But what can you do?

Tactically its interesting to watch Torres play when he doesn't have the best midfield around him. He's a great player and scored a fine goal against Blackpool but he seems a shadow of his former self now that the supply line isn't as strong like all strikers.

Never adequately replacing Alonso has proven to be very costly. Why we never moved for Van Der Vaart I'll never know. He would have made a real difference.
Quote:
What kind of transfer budget has Kenny got?

Undisclosed. Rumours place it anywhere between 30m and 80m. Regardless, 30m should be enough if he uses it in the right way and buys a couple of decent players instead of throwing money at younger players that are just going to get in the way of the development of talents like Suso, Pacheco, Shelvey and Kelly.

 The fact that you all still feel the need to comment about our club says it all.

Nobody expected Kenny to come in and instantly work miracles. Not one Liverpool fan expected that. We were rejoicing because he is a legend of the club and it's great to see him appreciated.

That said, I think our final league position would be better with him than it would be with Roy.

The owners wont fire him. Not even if we are in the relegation zone. They wont.

Just wondering how long it is before the fans realise Kenny isn't going to work miracles and Liverpool probably won't end up much different from where Hodgson would have had them.

Just wait till the owners get rid of Kenny in a month when the results still wont be coming.

Well that's about the only way you can get through to Guest. So why don't you run along and play in your trophy cabinet? I hear there's plenty of room in there.

The team isn't missing belief, they're just lacking leadership (with both Gerrard and Carragher missing) and that shows ten fold.

You might be equally the most successful team of all time, but you can only use history so often until it because rediulous. I'm not for dick measuring but Spurs on the up, reds on the down. Should be interesting to see what goes on. Either way i'm glad to see new blood in the top 4, not particularly at Liverpools expense, they're probably the top 4 team i hate the least. I hated watching those yanks ruin your football club and then try and then use the club to try and keep their fortunes with little concern for the clubs future. They should be lined up and shot for what they did to Liverpool.

Tactically its interesting to watch Torres play when he doesn't have the best midfield around him. He's a great player and scored a fine goal against Blackpool but he seems a shadow of his former self now that the supply line isn't as strong like all strikers. In a way watching Torres is like watching GCU play Bruce Djite, you find yourself yelling at the 9 other outfield players to get forward and give the poor bugger some assistance. Theres only so much you can do on your own.

The results haven't come in our last two games, yeah. But we're playing much better than we were under Hodgson for mine, and I think that it's a matter of the lads adjusting to his tactics over the next week or two in training and we'll start to see some changes.

I can't say we've played a 'bad' game under Kenny yet. But there are nuances of his tactics that are letting us down. Our defence is missing a leader something shocking. Carra may be losing his pace, but his presence is priceless.

I'm not sure why we played Kelly at LB. Should have kept Aurelio and left Johnson on the bench. Unless he picked up a knock in training.

Disappointing result after a promising start. Very odd team selection too. Was Fabio injured? Very disappointing, and I can't see why, unless he is resting for the derby.

A victory there and all will be forgotten. A loss, however...
