Remy has failed physicals for a whole bunch of teams. QPR were heavily criticized for going on to sign him after he failed physicals for Lazio and Lyon.

I think it's a good thing that Liverpool have pulled out of this one after their history of signing players with pre-existing injury issues like Carroll and Aquilani.

Yeah, but as jlm said could be that Liverpool didn't want to take the risk. That is of course if it was the heart stuff that's caused the breakdown.

He's failed 3-4 medicals because of the heart issue, it might not ever actually effect him but clubs don't want to take that risk.

Still ended up going to Marseille and then on to QPR and NUFC despite the heart issue. Bit weird.

This Remy deal is interesting. As far as I knew he wasn't currently injured which means it would have to be some pre existing condition that really worried Liverpool. Could be the possible heart defect that they found while he was at Marseille.

Talking to a friend of mine who is Swiss, and lives in Switzerland - it sounds as if Shaqiri himself doesn't want to leave Germany (or Switzerland).

How much that will prevent the deal going through, particularly if Liverpool offer irresistible wages, I don't know.

Read on the weekend that the Shaqiri deal is close to being done. They rejected our first offer, but second offer has been tabled and we're getting closer to an agreement. He will be our best signing of the summer if it goes through :)

As stated, it would be something special if they pulled it off. The rumours of his impending arrival were gathering momentum last weekend but it's died off this week.

I'm not sure how I feel about Borini. He's a top bloke by all accounts but I'm not sure he's any benefit to the club. He hasn't performed for us and while he did ok for Sunderland he's not our level of player. I'd rather have Remy - well, Ideally I'd rather have neither and we were aiming higher but I don't think that's an option right now.

There were rumours going around that Reus was close to signing. That would be a hell of a move by Ayre & Co. to pull that one off.

We really need to wrap up this Lovren deal though.
