Dropping them for a tour they're already on is just stupid. You're basically giving them a 5 day holiday. And even stupider when you consider the disastrous form Australia are in.

Shane Watson is probably Australia's highest paid Cricketer - WTF is a fine going to do to him? At least this hurts and is in the only language they will get! A fine just sends the message that its OK not to go with team orders and rules when it suits you. This way every player will think twice before acting like he is bigger than the team and the baggy green. Like Nathan Buckley said on Twitter - If you cant perform simple instruction off field, how are you supposed to do be able to do that in the heat of battle?? Its not THAT hard. In isolation it is harsh? Probably, but personally I believe these 4 have been d-heads from day one and this is the final straw... Edited by UnitedGal: 11/3/2013 11:45:28 PM

this indian tour, after a relatively successful international summer at home. Has been a nightmare from hell!
Trust sending Australians over to India to bring the worst out of us! Cricketers, some of our toughest most ruthless individuals get frazzled by being there

Quote: Clarke backs decision Australian Captain Michael Clarke says this incident is not the first involving behaviours in the team and believes the right decision has been made to suspend four players from the third Test of the VB Tour of India. Shane Watson, Mitchell Johnson, Usman Khawaja and James Pattinson have all been stood down after not presenting coach Mickey Arthur with a presentation of how to improve ahead of the Mohali Test, as requested. "I don't think it is too extreme at all," says Clarke. "I think the reality is after having a couple of days of as a team we were asked to do one thing by the coach in regards to preparation leading up to our first training day. "Four of the players did not adhere to what was required and that is unacceptable if you want to be a part of the Australian Cricket Team." Clarke went on to say that this incident was not the first involving the cultures and behaviours of the team. "It's a lot bigger than that. There have been a number of things on this tour that have not been up to the standard that we would have liked as the Australian Cricket Team, hence our performance. "To me not only is it disrespecting the team, not handing this information in, but it's disrespecting the head coach and that is unacceptable at any level let alone when you are representing Australia. "You have to have your standards and we have set our standards. There have been a few issues on this tour where we haven't been hitting the mark and this is one of those that is unacceptable. "I think the one thing I want the players and the public to understand back home is to represent Australia is a huge honour. "We owe the game a hell of a lot every time we walk out onto the field, not the other way around. "The game owes us nothing so if you're not going to adhere to the standards of the Australian Cricket Team. "If you're not going to do everything in your power to help the team, to help yourself have success especially when you are two-nil down in the series then unfortunately there are consequences." With a busy international cricket schedule around the world the Australian skipper says there are a lot of playing opportunities these days but representing Australia is different to all those other teams. "I hope every single player feels the same. I know the coach does, I know the support staff does and I know the majority of the players do. It's as simple as that - we have a standard. "If you're not looking after yourself, if you're not looking after this team and doing what is required to be part of this great team that is unacceptable in my opinion." http://www.cricket.com.au/news-list/2013/3/12/clarke-backs-decision Edited by sydneycroatia58: 12/3/2013 09:09:45 AM

You think it's bad that they didn't submit anything, you should have seen Clarke's presentation... no. 3 batsman: Michael Clarke no. 4 batsman: Michael Clarke with a fake moustache.

Ussie failed because his proposed essay: "Gritty Painful 20s and 30s....How You Can Do It Too" had already been submitted by Ed Cowan.
"Who Wants To Bat Like A Millionaire.......And Get Out To A 5c Shot" by Dave Warner.
"The Power Of One.......Now Where The F**k Are My Ten Team-mates??!!" by Michael Clarke.
front foot lunge - shane watson
waiting for jeff - nathan lyon
up and down and back again - peter siddle
"Bang for your buck: How to get more money out of less runs" by Glenn Maxwell
the day the earth stopped spinning - x. doherty & nathan lyon
wide & full - mitch johnson I assume the sequel is "wide and short". Interesting to consider, what if 6 players had not handed this in? Would they have forfeited the 3rd test? What if this was 2-0 down in the Ashes, would they have still banned these 4 players? Or 2-2 going into the deciding test?

Too much has been made of the homework and not on the fact that 4 players disobeyed team rules/orders - & reading between the lines of what Clarke said I don't believe it's the first time those 4 have done that. Lets say if you let them off what happens the next time a player doesn't want to do something set out by the coach, and the next time, and the next time, and the next....well you get my drift
if you can't undertake basic task off field you can't be trusted to do that in the heat of battle

Michael Clarke has reportedly been rushed to hospital in an Ambulance earlier today. I reckon it's his back giving out from carrying the Aussie team for the last couple of years.

David Warner...#-o #-o    Quote:"Cricket Australia is aware of comments made on David Warner's twitter account overnight," said Cricket Australia, in a statement.
Cricket Australia is attempting to contact Warner and will continue to investigate the matter."
"Cricket Australia will make further comment once it has conducted a thorough investigation."
A series of angry tweets were posted on Warner's Twitter account in response to News Limited journalist Robert Craddock's critical article of the Indian Premier League (read here).
Craddock's colleague, Malcolm Conn, also weighed in and fired back some tweets of his own.
Former Test player, Damien Fleming, says Conn went too far by "goading" Warner when the journalist would have known it was about 4am in India.
It's unclear if Warner will face any sanctions for his behaviour and Triple M has been unable to confirm whether the tweets posted were written by Warner himself. http://www.triplem.com.au/sydney/sport/bp-cricket-hub/news/david-warner-twitter-tirade-against-news-limited-journalists-makes-headlines-around-the-world/
