Ok, so theres some benefit in the cut and paste work done by a few on here as it means the rest don’t have to visit any other websites to get news and opinion pieces. But you have to ask yourself, if that is how you are getting your news and information, Is my news limited? Pun intended. I believe in reading a large variety of material so you can form a better informed opinion. Sticking to what you are comfortable with will very rarely stretch you or allow for development.

Another assumption. Where was it said that this is the only site to read football from? It saves time certainly, and avoids some global football websites that have increasingly little relevance to Australian football - but it does not capture everything. Which is why we all contribute useful info to the forum if we come accross it somewhere else.

As for the BS polls and threads etc, I do not see the harm in having a variety of content on here. Its not as if the half a dozen posters in AF who don’t start threads with a cut and paste job, or just post a comment under threads started with cut and paste work will be able to compete with those who do. If you think a certain poster adds no value do what our scally friend scouse does and turn your self-filter on and don’t open them it is rare that you a trawling through vast swathes of original thought here to find a comforting cut and paste article to read.

This is where I disagree. Your concept of original thought captures the comments of members on articles and thoughts of others.

Spamming forums with repetitive threads and tedious polls - it is not the work of a member, rather that of a spoiler. Again, there is a decorum here.

Use the Extra Time forum for spurious threads.

ehhh i do think people have to be told when there wrong ;)

Ok, 1 warning. I am also well aware that over the course of my involvement with this forum I would have had both the 1 week & 1 month ban slapped on me - but I think it would have been justified and accelerated my self moderation of posts.

There's many discussions a day that aren't based on a particular article or news story. Most of them are, though. If you don't like it, find some other forum to complain on.

Can we please have it moderated so that you need over a certain amount of posts before you can start a thread stating your opinion and not just cut and paste???

Something like 5000?

So people don't continually use their brains and stuff it for the rest of us.

yesterday in AF we had almost 5 threads that were started with people posting original thought with not a trace of cut and paste anywhere to be seen. All of them started by memeber with less than 5000 posts.
