Mrdja hasn't been seen at anything club related (NYL games, player appearances, functions etc) and hasn't played with the team since the very start of the season. He hasn't made the bench for the past 1 or 2 months due to a "Back injury - indefinite", and now he doesn't even appear on the list of unavailable players for the Mariners along side Vanstrattan and Porter and whoever else is unavailable.

Yeah, I guess this is STILL just a rumour, though not sure, technically, how long such rumours can last/be valid, lol.

Maybe cbowden9000's rumour won't finally be confirmed/dismissed till end of the season? lol

We'll see. We'll all see...

Wait a sec mate, lol, from where did you source this rumour? I see, re-reading, it's more sourced from yourself, via reading into his non-appearances, hehe.

Seems you jumped the gun a little hehe, but as you said, 'I guess we'll see.' lol

Will mid season or end of season can be the mod's expiration date for this one? lol

Why is this still open. Mrdja is clearly still with the club and playing in the NYL game today.

Is Mrdja actually gone. On Fox Sports FC when they were talking to Arnie about CCM's options upfront he mentioned McBreen, Simon and Kwasnik but also mentioned Mrdja and nothing about him leaving.

It's only because of his horrendous bad luck with injuries - In the first season or two of the A-League, he was indeed one of the hottest strikers - He scored a bag load, including two hat tricks I think - for Central Coast in the final of the pre-season cup and then the other within the first few games of that season. I think, again, injury curtailed his run that season. But you could see the potential there.

BTW AGAIN, how many of you caught the NSL? He was quite a talent then and with Glory in their latter NSL years MANY were arguing he should be starting, DESPITE we having a then league dominating pairing of Mori/Despotovski. And OFCOURSE Mrdja scored the winning goal for Glory in that rain soaked (or muddy pitch) last ever NSL Grand Final against a VERY STRONG and infact FAVOURITES the cashed up, Parramatta Power.

But as Timmyg suggested, that was all quite a while ago and alot has changed since then, and Mrdja is also quite old, already at his peak age as a player, so far from the very promising early 20 something he was back with Glory.

And dare I say, Mrdja is possibly another who suffered due to that '18 month NSL-A-League gap,' just like how soo many top players of the latter NSL era did, in coming over to the A-League.

I still remember the time when the coast had just signed Sasho petrovski and commentators and journalist were claiming that the Mrdja/Petrovski partnership would be the best in the league.

How wrong they turned out to be.

Finally got what you deserved you dirty bastard

He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

Really they have been paying him for four or five years for nothing, let him go I say, and if another team want him, good luck with that.

People CONSTANTLY bag Matt Simon and I'm not inclined to disagree with 'some' of those criticisms, BUT, he's still been amongst the league's leading scorers past two seasons - he's a goal scorer, no doubt. Which is MORE than a few strikers can say in this league, especially past seasons. This includes 3 already this season, which only puts him a couple goals off the pace.

BTW Mrdja is a perth boy ofcourse and with Glory's woes up front they could do worse than give Mrdja a stint, maybe ironically, maybe as some kind of injury replacement player?

As you might tell, I'm kind of a parochial West Aussie, so excuse me if I still see Mrdja through rose coloured glasses. Still he scored the winning goal for Perth in the last ever NSL Grand Final, he's a Glory boy at heart.
