I find it so frustrating when teams are refereed differently. For some reason the Storm (and Queensland) are allowed to do things in the ruck to slow play down that any other team would get penalised for.

I felt sorry for Barba at the end when he kept being stopped from getting a quick play from the 20m line because his forwards didn't have enough initiative to get back behind the line.

As expected James Graham referres straight to the judiciary, facing a long, and 100% deserved suspension if found guilty.

Sisa Waqa, Todd Lowrie and Josh Reynolds all charged with Grad 1 fighting offences.

No real problem with that, although feel a bit sorry for Reynolds. Don't know how Slater has got away without a charghe for a fighting offence either.

Graham should be out for a long time. Hopefully the rest get off for free.

Yeah the rest should get off with an early guilty plea, don't think any have major carry over points.

Agree Graham should get a lengthy ban, and will, that is unless he's hired Mini's lawyer

Did have a laugh at someone on twitter saying the Bulldogs have announced 15 trial games for the 2013 pre-season.

Festival of the boot wraps up ratings for networks

October 1, 2012 - 12:10PM

More than 3 million Australians watched the rugby league grand final clash between the Melbourne Storm and the Canterbury Bulldogs.

The Sunday evening match drew a national audience of 3.68 million viewers, which includes the five capital cities and viewers in regional areas.

That climbed to 3.711 million viewers for the presentation of the winning team.

The pre-game entertainment drew a national (capital city plus regional) audience of 2.02 million viewers.

Channel Nine's coverage ranked No.1 in the 25- to 54-year-old, 18 to 49 and 16 to 39 demographics.

With audience volumes like that driving the numbers, a win for the night was a no-brainer for Nine.

It took out the night with an impressive audience share of 40.8 per cent.

In the 25 to 54 demographic – Nine's declared preferred demographic – that rose to 47.2 per cent.

But for those who delight in comparisons between codes, the AFL edged out the rugby league in terms of ratings.

On a national audience basis (capital city plus regional viewers), Saturday's AFL grand final between the Sydney Swans and Hawthorn drew an average of 3.95 million viewers for Channel Seven.

That number climbed to 4.16 million for the post-match presentation.

was very disapointed in the standard of grand final, for me it was a very boring game compared to the grand finals of last couple of years, was almost not worth getting up early here in the UK for

Difference is Graham's bite was a cunt act from a guy who isn't a cunt. Suarez's was a cunt act from someone who is very much a cunt. I mean, Suarez's bite was just one of the many things that make him easy to hate.

That being said, doesn't take away from how pathetic it was and deserves a lengthy ban.

Should just note, when I talk about Suarez being a cunt, I mean on the pitch.

Yes, because every single player that plays for the Bulldogs is a cunt. That's some wonderful logic right there.

Did you really just call me "small minded" in another thread and then proceed to make the grammatical mistake of using "then" instead of "than"? #-o nice, champ.

There's a difference between small mindedness and unintelligence.

You can't get on your intellectual high horse - 'golf is above your intelligence' - and then proceed to make a mistake that I'd expect of an eight year-old child.

Being told "you can't appreciate the finer things in life" doesn't bode well coming from a man who can't piece together a basic English sentence.

Actually thought it was the best quality grand final since 2000. There have been a couple of standout performances from teams (Newcastle 2001, Manly 2008) but both teams brought exactly what was expected. Melbourne were mechanical and ruthless, but still brilliant when they needed to be. The dogs were tough, had flair and would have put plenty of points on any other team. For me it all comes down to Cam Smith. Outside of Andrew Johns and Wally Lewis, I have never seen a player have complete control of how a game of football pans out every week, season after season, than he does. It's no coincidence that generally whatever team he's involved in wins. Absolute freak.

His push instigated some push and shove, it had all calmed down after Stagg pulled Slater away. It only really kicked off once Slater for some reason took offence to Stagg pulling him away from the other players.

I was actually trying to think of what you could charge Inu with for the push, and I don't think there is anything

He was trying to calm the situation. That headlock saved Slater from having to deal with 4 Bulldogs players who were all looking rough him up. What made it seem bad was Perret losing balance and falling over in the other arm taking Stag and Slater with him.

I agree that he was trying to calm the situation down but there was some pushing and shoving and then Slater is grabbed around the neck, I think it was quite a natural response from him.

Sydcro is right though, you can see what his intentions were, just that everything got a little bit hasty with Stagg being pulled away in the celebration and him with the arm round Billy's neck.

Stagg is no scumbag player, he had good intentions at heart.

He should be thanked for stopping Slater from having to take on 3 Bulldogs players by himself.

In the end it was a great split second decision to pull Slater away because it did calm things down, albeit for about 3 seconds. If Slater hadn't then retaliated I don't think there would've been any more carry on.
