I can't remember seeing a game that tough since the 90s. And importantly: NSW held on. I have seen so many freaking matches like this, especially at Lang Park, where Queensland would score in the last few minutes to win the game. Today we didn't have to defend the last 5mins, we had to defend the last 25 minutes, and we didn't crack. Unbelievable performance in defence. Well freaking done NSW =d>

Josh Reynolds charged with a grade 2 dangerous throw, 2 matches with an early guilty plea.

I was in agreeance with whichever commentator (who admitted he was a one-eyed QLD supporter) that said "Neither player for that Tate tackle seemed to have any malice, or intent to turn the tackle like it did. It was just an accident".
I bothered to watch that game and was pleasantly surprised. Usually I get roped into watching an origin or two a year and I leave disappointed and feeling like I wasted my time. But last night I'll admit was one of the better games I've watched, and I was actually excited for lots of it. I'm glad NSW held in there in the end. Particularly that last 10 or so minutes it really did seem like the refs wanted QLD to win. I also have a genuine belief for that last QLD try Thurston threw the ball forward.
NSW need to defend that wing better - Boyd had it WAY too easy when the ball actually managed to get to him.
Thought it was funny that Hayne was talked to about knee-sliding to attempt to save a try, yet for years Billy Slater has gone unpunished for his studs-up challenges to do the same.

Reynolds will probably have the charge downgraded and get 1 week. Tate was only just lifted above the horizontal and in all honesty there was never any serious danger of him being put on his neck.
Was a good feeling to still be able to hang on and win an origin game even with all the shit QLD had handed to them. Felt everything had turned a corner when that Hayne try was awarded, thought it was a guaranteed no try up in Brisbane.

I have re-watched it a couple of times and cannot for the life of me figure out what Queensland were trying to do on that last play, did they not realise the siren had gone already?
Was a joy all night to watch Queensland's last tackle options more often than not fall completely flat.

Was a joy all night to watch Queensland's last tackle options more often than not fall completely flat. Yep, commentators all said it was going to be a bomb yet no kick came. No idea why they waited 80mins to finally play some decent back line game. NSW were murdering QLD in that regard for pretty much the entire first half. Soon as they were passing to the centres I was bracing for tries. -PB

At least Inglis has the ability to maybe bump off some guys in that situation. Once Slater you know all NSW had to do was lock the ball up and it was game over. Last night also brought up the question of what is actually the point of two referees if the more senior referee, Hayne in this case, is just going to ignore anything the other referee says and make his own, and more often than not, wrong decisions.

Roar Bris not around posting today  The overall game was similar to the ol days - blood here blood there and solid defense from both sides. I'm not sure where your going pv4 re the our right side, Morris boys did their best and covered and saved 2 certain tries, you can'ty help and stop great open play especially when GI is running towards you - Boyd's tries were copy book stuff I'm afraid. I agree that Thurston pass that led to their try was slightly forward and maybe Rabs if I recall questioned it as well but thats the ball game, as we saw late int he game the ref made a wrong call that that last scrum should have been our feed if I recall right also. Justice prevailed we helf on and at Lang Park ! would have loved seeing the 50k bitters leaving the ground with the unexpected loss on their faces

Hate to say it but Reynolds should get a couple of weeks. Not sure where that leaves us because Hodgkinson-Maloney won't work and you can't drop Trent after last night. Maybe Bird to 5/8. You would think Choc and Williams are the two dropped for Bird and Cordener (if fit).
Was a great night to be there. Not the most talented Blues team but they played tougher than any other.

The quality of refereeing has gone downhill ever since they introduced 2 referees. Surprised they haven't gone down the AFL route and introduced a thousand referee's running around the oval.

Was surprised by that. He clearly didn't intend for it to happen but he was in a pretty bad position at one stage. Great news for us anyway :d

The lack of consistency when it comes to "beyond the parallel" is disgraceful. NSW or QLD it doesn't matter, clearly protection the interests of Origin as a whole over player safety. -PB

-PB Origin has always been judged by a different criteria than club games. Throwing a punch in a club game will get you weeks. Throw a punch in Origin and you get a medal.
