So apparently a high tackle you see multiple times a season is worth a send off, but spear tackling guy twice in a match isn't :lol: NRL refs logic

Fully agree, and he is facing 5-7 weeks on top of the send off. I actually have no problem with that being a send off offence, even as a Roosters fan, but it's a joke if someone thinks that is the worst offence committed on the field this year. I am all for encouraging referees to punish players during the game they commit the offence, and I think if the judiciary showed a bit of leniency on players who are sent off it would help that.

Yeah he's only facing 5-7 weeks because he was sent off so it's interpreted as a worse tackle than if he was just placed on report which is a joke.

I also think referee's need to seriously start using the sin-bin properly and not just for professional fouls. The Fa'aoso incident with Inglis is the perfect example and Sam Burgess I think it was made a very good point to the referee saying that what advantage do they get out of just getting a penalty. Sure he'll get a lengthy suspension, but that doesn't help Souths. I mean if 2 spear tackles in the same match isn't a send off or a sin-bin offence then I don't know what is.

All it does is once again highlight the outrageous inconsistency of NRL referees.

A SPONSORSHIP deal between bookmaker Tom Waterhouse and the NRL appears to have broken down with both parties walking away from negotiations.

"We failed to reach agreement around terms with Tom Waterhouse," the NRL's general manager for strategy, Shane Mattiske, told ABC's Four Corners in an interview to be broadcast tonight.

Earlier this year, it was reported the NRL had clinched a deal with Waterhouse after the high-profile bookmaker started advertising heavily on Channel 9's NRL coverage.

It was reported his combined NRL-Channel 9 deal would be $50 million over five years.

The NRL did not sign off on the deal for Waterhouse to replace Tabcorp as the NRL's sports betting sponsor.

The breakdown in talks between Waterhouse and the NRL does not affect his deal with Channel 9 which has attracted widespread criticism because of his advertising intruding on broadcasts.

The NRL insists the breakdown was not a result of the public backlash against Mr Waterhouse after he appeared on Channel 9's expert commentary panel in March.

Tonight's Four Corners investigates the big changes underway in the sports betting business, from Waterhouse to his global competitors and the political backlash against it.

'The Big Gamble' will be broadcast on ABC1 at 8:30pm tonight.

I'm sorry but when I watch the footy I have the expectation that it doesn't turn into the fucking Tom Waterhouse show where they give him his own fucking segment.

It's a complete and utter joke and the sooner he has nothing to do with the NRL the better it will be. The media saturation is beyond ridiculous, and then they wonder why people develop gambling problems.

Your hate should be directed at Channel 9 not Tom. IMO.
