We've seen some players come from relative obscurity in the State Leagues to star in the A-League, abroad and for the Socceroo's. In recent times we've had Ognenovski, Jedinak, Leckie and now we have Kalmar, Zahra and Rojas doing their respective State Leagues proud.
The question is who are the current players plying their trade in the State League that could make an impact in the A-League.
I'd say from the VPL Trent Rixon would be worthy of a shot, especially for a team like the Fury that need a genuine goalscorer. Matthew Theodore has had some success in the VPL since his release from Victory and at 21 could be worth another shot in the A-League.

As MvFCArsenal said, players transferring to bigger clubs happens everywhere.

WHAT A JOKE OF A LEAGUE AND ADMINISTRATORS Did you have to yell. What money are you referring to? What a joke you try and make everything about Olympic, with no regard to anyone else. Theres likely to be many clubs out there that clubs like Olympic have taken players from and have not received what they would consider fair value. Its not all a one sided anti-Olympic conspiracy, which you seem to try and paint it as. Edited by Heart_fan: 16/1/2011 07:28:19 PM

The real life situation is that teams get screwed on all levels of the game, globally. Its not a Olympic/SMFC specific issue, which seems to be the case you try and push. Football is bigger than your own backyard, so try looking broader. If you expect HAL clubs to pay inflated prices for players, expect other clubs to ask the same of yours, which I am sure you will cry fowl about. In the end, all that does is hinder the players' ability to get into the top tier, and developing to their full potential. What is fair is in the eye of the beholder, but greed runs deeper through the veins of many also:) Btw, its the first time I would have heard a girl use the word 'buddy':)

This topic should develop into a posting where fans on here 'review' a player for 2-3 State League games during the year and then come on here and rate the player out of 10 for things such as skill, athletism etc etc

If SFC gave him his first pro contract, which I would assume would be the Case, maybe Olympic should go after them instead. It's always better to go after the actual responsible party, not an imagined one:)
As for comments regarding AU not having money to pay, that is a very slanderous thing to say. Without any evidence, which you never have in your statements, do not even attempt to post such things.
Some of your bitterness ultraguy/girl comes through so much it distorts all reality for you it seems.

If you did you would realise that you should not comment on whats true or false, without some kind of evidence being shown. Obviously you chose to ignore that again, which was not unexpected. Btw, you continue to shock me by using another term I have never heard a girl use, champ in this case. Its sounding more manly by the post:)

        It could be a possibility. Im just pointing out that the language/words/terms used seem to be quite manly, which is something I do not expect from a girl. Ill leave the interpretation of that to everyone else to draw their own conclusions :) Its not important anyway, girl or guy, the points still carry way too much bitterness than a person should have built up inside. Its not healthy. I am all for discussion, but making such comments about clubs losing millions, or clubs not being able to pay bills, and trying to make a point that the FFA is corrupt, racist, or whatever agenda they want to push, without any kind of evidence, really does no good to anyone. Edited by joffa: 17/1/2011 08:33:02 PM Totally agree. I applaud the inititive and passion shown by some members of the forums, it is just a pity that some other factors get in the road at times. As for the actual discussion, prior to our friends AUFC/SOFC moneygrab rant, the SL's are a great source of talent. Many players are there ready for the step up to the HAL, with so much potential. It sometimes just takes the confidence, and belief, that a player has what it takes, and it builds from there. All clubs should do whats best for the players they have, and look to develop them, then look to see them further their careers in the higher tiers, if they are ready to take that next step. An efficient football pyramid would do wonders for the game in this country. Edited by heart_fan: 17/1/2011 08:52:49 PM

Some of your bitterness ultraguy/girl comes through so much it distorts all reality for you it seems. i dont think ultragirl said that AU dont have the money, more she is referring to the idea that they are refusing to pay if Olympic is owed money for this then it is likely that A-League clubs owe half of Australia money for similar circumstances. It should be investigated.

Edited by joffa: 17/1/2011 08:33:02 PM sounds awfully dismissive of a number of serious and significant contributors to these forums let alone the sport IRL some may not be as eloquent as others in their speech but what will speak loudest are the actions they effect with their hands on the ground that being said, for people such as myself who are against the current FFA and its destructive aims and nature, forums like this one play an important role in engaging the enemy and the potential ally at every corner, on every thought, at any moment. all that the clubs like Sydney Olympic and South Melbourne and Knights and so on need is self-belief to brew within its existing supporter base. one day at a time people will believe first that these clubs can prove to be a suitable current alternative to the current A-League franchises today, and secondly that these clubs are a viable and sustainable alternative to the A-League franchises at all. I believe in my team, I believe in football, but dreams often hang by a thread. less enemies and more friends at every corner O LYM PIC

both Olympic boys just signed multi year A-League deals bright futures    Dont tell me just because he is greek and played half a season for SOFC that you are claiming dimi. Pity in all articles about him he thanks penrith nepean club and associations for his development. Dim is olympic boy, his dad played for the club and hes brothers play for the club wtf u on about who gave him the exposure to be snapped up by the hakoa clang Edited by ultragirl: 18/1/2011 04:05:43 PM Once again though, the development was done elsewhere, so maybe they should be rewarded for it. Did Olympic 'fairly' compensate them for that? Likely not. It just goes to prove that sometimes things are not as clear as they seem.

Vedran Janjetovic 23 years old. Spent a bit of time on loan at Brisbane last season. Goalkeeper of the year in the NSWPL the season before last. Would be a good pick up for someone like North Qld if they're around next season.

From ultragirls logic ever club that signs a player who grew up wanting to play for MUFC or LFC should be paying them for developing the kid? This is nothing to do with 'old soccer' vs 'new football' but has to do with abject stupidity vs reason - and I dislike having to say that.

At the end of the day, every club has some idiots, its just a pity that some choose to communicate on here, in the manner they do, which poisons the opinions of others. This ultimately leads to many seeing all in the same light.
