I'm the same. 95% of it sounds the same to me. Listen to some tech n9ne , or immortal technique . You'll love techn9ne. Guy is crazy live and is a massive metal head.

Might do it soon. Also if you haven't watched Alice in Chains' performance on MTV Unplugged, do it. Layne Staley is criminally underrated.

and Nope, Blurred Lines is the one for the other star of Gone Girl Emily Ratjkowski

These "amazing" "unique" bands that Triple J praise sound like every other indie rock band that has come and gone over the last 20 years or so. I find some pop music on commercial radios is more innovative and technically creative than half the nonsense Triple J plays ... which is a sad situation!

Been a pretty chilled countdown so far. Helps that all songs don't really stand out for me Check out Caligula's Horse ... they probably got a run on Triple J (as a similar sound to Karnivool, but more progressive and technically proficient). An Aussie prog rock band that has been around for a few years now and released a new album last year (even getting rave reviews on international/American music sites). Does Triple J still have a metal show? I know Andrew Hoag no longer with them, I use to love his show on Triple J. Remember traversing from the Victorian coast across to Mansfield (through Omeo) after New Years and listening to his top 10 album countdown throw the dead of night (2001 I think). Discovered great Aussie bands such as Karnivool, Brace, Devolved and other bands such as Clutch that night!

Need to discover more music now DT, PT and Opeth aren't exactly "with us" at the moment. Yeh the Racket was pretty good when I listened to it, haven't in a while. Triple J's site says it's still up so might check in tomorrow night

I think the style of Music on Triple J is becoming more generic as its own sound, but the quality of music and talent far outstrips that of commercial radio. I think you'll find that a lot of what was played on triple J two years ago is becoming very 'mainstream' now, certainly amongst younger people. Triple J is more popular than ever and you can see that with the insanely rapid rise of festivals ect... I'll always prefer music with instruments but I can appreciate stuff like Disclosure and Flume which is a style of music that bridges alternative music and pop music at the moment.

Used to listen to JJJ. Just a heap of shit now. There are so many "artists" that get bigged up for absolutely no reason. Whether they become popular in the end or not doesn't really mean much to me in any case.
I will say that they play far too many tracks by guys that speak really fast over music that they didn't write, though.

One of the biggest issues with triple J right now is the popularity of it. Right now, any non-socially awkward person likes the artists on triple J, and so all my friends who used to listen to the shit on Nova and Today FM now listen to triple J, which influences what they play...
