Their tight fives are stronger than ours, but I'd take our loose forwards, especially when you consider we still hopefully have Pocock, whose the best forward in the world when fit to return. We desperately need Genia to find his form though. Foley at 10 will solve any goal kicking issues. So with everyone firing we have a 7,8,9,13 and 15 as good as any. Still a long way to go but we've got 12 months left.

Come World Cup time I'd be more worried about England than South Africa Nope, both the South African and English packs would eat the Australians alive atm, not to mention they'll be able to smack penalties from anywhere on the pitch which Australia is never capable of doing.

You don't win world cups playing flamboyant/careless rugby, you need a structured game with a quality tight 5 and with a first receiver who can keep things together under pressure with quick delivery and accurate kicking. Foley needs to start from now on because he is the only 10 who offers that.
It's this running rugby bullshit mentality which the ARU keeps fapping over that is causing half of Australian rugbys problems (the other half being the ARU's obsession on having the Wallabies as the pinnacle). People always hype up the wallabies ahead of Bledisloe but the reality is Australia will never win until they learn how to win with their forwards. In fairness, I thought our scrum was the least of our problems. We conceded a penalty try when one of our forwards was off. Our biggest problem was errors. We didn't hang on to the ball, it's that simple. The amount of times we were in an attacking position, coughed up the ball and found ourselves down the other end of the field within 10seconds was ridiculous. We gave up so many penalties and missed tackles. As for running rugby - that's exactly how the NSW Waratahs won Super Rugby this season. We had the personnel sitting on the bench to do it - Foley, Pipps, etc. The moment they came on off the bench, we scored two tries. Folau should be on the wing, rather than at the back. He is wasted there - and he's been sitting too deep, which has allowed the All Blacks to kick in behind our defense and cause big problems.

Theres nothing better than a half century against the Wallabies. The whinging and bitching on FB during the match was just too amusing. The fox sports commentators are pack of idiots anyway. Anything that shuts them up is a good thing. It must just be a Fox Sports thing to hire cheerleading fools as commentators rather than actual analysts who can carry on as proffesionals.

I s it time to allow guys playing in overseas leagues to play for the Wallabies. JOC, Digby & the Cummins would make a massive difference. :-k They may have to. With french rugby recently getting a massive tv deal they are going to increasingly look at Super players. After the WC I can see the likes of Horwill, Quade, Genia, Izzy all moving to France or even Japan. Horwill and Quade won't be at the World Cup anyway :d The answer might be. To let players play the rest of the year in Europe after our season finishes. Disagree Quade is still our best 10. The rugby he played under Link at the Reds was unbelievable certainly a much more mature player now as well. The havoc he'd create with Izzy running off him. =p~ Until Horwill gets his running game back he wont be at the WC. In terms of the NRC retaining players that wont happen IMO, not enough money in the comp. However it should improve our player depth and quality of rugby which will be a huge for the game. Its a very difficult decision to be made, as 99P said above it really would be terrible for our Super Rugby teams. We really need more money in the game. :( Some positive news, JOC will be announced soon & Speight will be eligible for the Wallabies in the next couple of months as well.

Players are going to leave anyway regardless of whether the ARU continue to keep their heads in the sand. The sooner they accept that, the quicker they'll be able to adjust.

Folau has been particularly woeful, continually out of position.
Wish we would stop selecting guys like AAC or McCabe on the wing, they are not wingers FFS. We should be selecting either fast and light footed guys (in the mold of a Habana) or damaging ball runners ( a Savea). I don't know why we see plodders like AAC & McCabe in both league and union continually being selected on the wing. Too many knock-ons and turnovers at key moments. There must've been like 15 of them. Profoundly frustrating game to watch.

It's a tough call. Those players would make huge difference, and they're not the only ones. Would be terrible for our super rugby teams if we did but great for the NT. Ideally the clubs would have the money to keep all these players but they just don't, and now it looks like Genia is going too. Maybe this new competition will help fix things?

I was at a bar last night watching the Bledisloe
It was hilarious that several sports were on at the same time (NRL & AFL)
You get a farsical situation where some people at the bar watch one sport, and not the other, in the same room
The NRL is usually the easiest sport to tune out of once an inevitable outcome is established
Also it would put a victard, a perthite or an adelaideian in shock to see people not be watching the VFL

the equivalent to a nil-all draw in rugby
Hopefully they apply the points rule for more points for tries and conversions, and less for penalty goals and field goals
Meanwhile I'll watch league, one of the few games that actually has just about everything right Apart from the refing howler every single game. Sometimes I think they have a monkey as video ref with some of the blatant wrong calls they have made this season.
